Howard is gone - I'm not sure what the argument is.

I think the more appropriate title is Miles vs. Carroll. Has Carroll's play made the decision whether or not to re-sign Miles more clear cut?

Completely disagree. I love Evans, but Carroll has a toughness that Evans hasn't even sniffed.
And that hair can definitely be a weapon. I suggest either putting in flecks of glass or not washing the day before a game. Then as the player shoots, Carroll should flick his hair in front of the player and spray oil in his eyes.

You mean that as in Howard will become worse in a couple of years, not Carroll better? Right? Carroll is 25 year old waiver wire player, he isn't getting much better than what he already is.
You don't think Carroll can get any better? First of all, I don't think we've seen his best. He really hasn't been given a chance to develop in the league up to this point. KOC doesn't usually randomly pick up players without some reason, and I think he sees something in Carroll that fits well in the Jazz system. He has the raw tools to play in the league and I believe that he will develop a bit more than he has to this point and become a solid contributor on this team.

Ah crap, I'm a Carroll homer. Oh well, like Burks and the pink backpack, I'll rock it.

Well I certainly think he can get better, but not by much. I don't think he will ever be as good as Josh Howard was this season. He is what he is, a hustle defender. If the Jazz don't resign him, he will probably be back to the D-league or a career journeyman.

The best thing about both Carroll and Howard is neither player has a multiyear contract, so this season you're getting the best possible effort and behavior from both as they try to establish/re-establish themselves in the league.

Howard is the better player now but I'm not warm on the idea of bringing him back next year. I wouldn't be opposed to bringing Carroll back though, maybe get him into summer league and training camp. He reminds me a little of a young Bryon Russell, both 6-7/6-8 225 pounders who played PF in college and had to transition to SF in the NBA. The thing that both players showed early, while they were still working on their perimeter skills, is they were both very active. Think Carroll could develop into a solid backup SF for someone, if Utah has an opening there he could potentially fill it.
