What's new

Cavs vs Warriors Game 2

They are.
But it's ok to not like that durant went to an already historically great and championship caliber team I think.

It is what it is and we have to deal with it but we don't have to like it and are certainly allowed to bitch about the fact that one team is blowing out the rest of the compitition in the playoffs and finals in nearly every game.

Member when you talked about how great the climax to these playoffs would be?
And how it was ok that the playoffs sucked cause we were going to get a great and competitive finals?

Im not telling anyone to like it, but let's not act like the NBA being dominated by a single team isnt anything new.

Let me get this straight.

We're all mad because the Warriors drafted Curry at #7, Thompson at #11, and Green at #35?

And on top of it we're mad because they believed in one of their players who was constantly injured and signed him to the biggest bargain in league history?

Then what makes us even more mad is we helped them get Iguodala?

But that's not all, we're mad because they built a winning culture and had enough cap space to sign Durant?

What exactly are we upset about here? Great drafting? Great trades? Great at free agency? 6 teams passed on Curry, 10 on Thompson, and every team passed on Green.

They built their team the right way, fair and square, but we're upset because they're too good?

LMAO.

It's insane that you don't know why we are mad.

I will tell you.
#1 we like competition in sports and are not getting it.
#2 A top 2 player in the league joined a historically great championship caliber team. (They would be going for three titles in a row if green doesn't get suspended last year. A couple years from now they would probably going for 5 or 6 in a row if not for greens suspension)

Pretty simple really and makes lots of sense.

No one is mad that they drafted klay, steph or draymond or aquired an old iggy silly.

It is new for the nba to be dominated in this fashion for a season though.

And I only see the warriors getting better. It sucks.

There is an obvious reason that we weren't bitching about the spurs, Lakers, celtics, pistons, etc.
This warriors team is far better than everyone else in the current nba more so than any of those dynasty/super teams of the past.
It's unprecedented.

This sums it up.

I think people are more mad at durant than the warriors.

GS built the team right way. no question about it. KD joining the warriors is the biggest reason why people are mad.

People are dirty on Durant not GS... Doesn't bother because imo Lebron is simply reaping what he sowed.

Who's fault is that? Build a better team that can compete.
How do I build a team? I just make yogurt.
Pretty hard for me to build a better team.

I'm sure the warriors plan all along was for Currys ankles to constantly get injured so they could sign him for cheap, to make the salary cap jump and then be the only team willing to offer durant a max contract, to know that klay and draymond would be there when they picked in the draft..... cause, you know, they are just great team builders.
They are so smart that they thought klay to be the better player than kahwi even. How can anyone hope to be better team builders than them?

We have a proverb - the person who is thirsty should do the walking i.e hard work.
Nobody is preventing other teams to practise 3 point shooting until they can hit the three pointer no matter where they are on the court.
IMHO artificial and forceful breakdown in sports is not good. Of course if the main idea of sport is something else besides the "let the best team win".
Similar to the Michael Schumacher hate when he was dominant.
Maybe it is better to let market decide whether super teams are good for the society or not.

Ok

Quite honestly, the main reason the Warriors team pisses me off is our own missed opportunities. Durant is a massive **** for doing what he did, but the front office is brilliant. Trading us those scrub contracts to get Iggy, drafting like they have, and then having the space for Durant. That's all front office.

And what mainly pisses me off - we drafted Alec freaking Burks over Kawhi Leonard. That move still riles me up to this day. Such a stupid, stupid decision. Kawhi is better because of Pop, but he was going to be a player of influence for years. Pop made him a superstar, but he would have been at least Iggy or better on his own. And we passed on the guy.

Just dream....

Hill/Exum
Hayward
Kawhi
Favors/whoever
Gobert

The Warriors FO did what we didn't. They executed excellently.

Free market capitalism will solve everything? **** I've now seen this ridiculous justification used for everything.

Well, unlike other leagues like Premier League in England or Serie A in Italy - the NBA is franchise. All those super teams NEED other teams too; do you really think that NBA could circulate as much money with only 2 or 4 teams? Imagine that Cavs and Warriors play 80 games only with each other, because the fans of other states are not fond of the quality drop.
IMHO what NBA lacks is that the are no real rivalries i.e a good player who is born in Utah does not have the attitude "the basketball in Utah will grow large, i would like that my state team will crush teams from other states". For example, rivalries between Arsenal vs United or Milano Inter vs SSC Napoli.
Also, nobody is preventing that small market teams form a separate league if they think that they will have more money from fans that way.
Or do you disagree with the statement - that with pro sport the best team should win and some artificial tuning which will give advantages to weaker players is not good?

Good points lauriandres. And Forza Inter by the way.

It is really easy to see why people who dislike the NBA will probably always dislike the NBA. It's a win now league with very little patience development. Without the Iggy trade, would GS be GS? Would they have gotten good enough to draw the attention of a Durant if Iggy never got traded there? Without the Love trade, how good would Cleveland be? Would Wiggins have them sweeping almost every series? There is no loyalty and almost zero competition when you're talking top to bottom or even top half with each other.

If the NBA turns into La Liga (Spanish soccer league), I think it's bad to for the league. In La Liga, Barcelona and Real Madrid are king. Every once in a while, a team like Athletico comes in, but it's almost always been those two. Real and Barcelona are the class of world club soccer. However, their league isn't seen as great because it lacks top to bottom competitiveness. People prefer the Premier League and other leagues.

Long story long, the NBA has to find a way to institute a hard cap. The late 80's and early 90's were fun because there were a number of teams who played good basketball. So many teams had "stars". There is a chance that most of the top 10 or so players in the NBA play on only a couple teams: GS has KD, Steph, Klay and DG, Cleveland has LBJ, Kyrie and maybe Melo and CP3. SA has Kawhi and maybe CP3, Houston has Harden (not a title threat) and OKC has Westbrook (not a title threat) and NO has Davis (not a title threat).
