Rondo is a bitch. He could be our bitch. He's needs a change of scenery and I think he can lead a young team like ours. Get him over here.
What about this? You guys would be giving up picks, but you could keep your bigs and get Rondo.
Jazz get: Rondo, Clippers 2012 1st round pick, Celtics 2nd round 2012 pick.
Celtics get: Harris, both Jazz 2012 1st rounders.
Most of us want either Big Al or Millsap gone, but mostly just Big Al

Kudos. Nice idea. Makes me think. I hate that.
You're thinking that this way, Jefferson or Millsap can be used to acquire an additional asset? But who?

I would do that trade.
It's amazing how there can be a million Rondo threads and then this one comes up and actually has some substance. Great first post!
I admit that I need to watch him play more often to be sure. However I looked up some stats and I think Rondo may get slaughtered here. He would come with the expectation that he would solve all of our problems and make us a contender. On the off chance that that didn't happen, this board would be seeing red re: 61% ft, 23% 3pt.
To be fair, this defensive rating article ranks him at #2. DRose #1. https://bleacherreport.com/articles/813678-nba-power-rankings-defensively-ranking-every-starting-point-guard-in-the-nba
I think it's obvious that Rondo is an upgrade, but his shooting does not fill one of our main needs. Also, would he be happy playing in Utah??? If not, then it would be a terrible mistake. You have to admit that there are some risks in a Rondo trade. (obviously depends on what is involved)
Im beginning to think of the contributions that Rondo would bring outside of statistics. You know how we currently don't have a team captain? This would change with Rondo's arrival. He would whoop our boys asses all into shape, and make then run their plays/sets like they've never done before. This team needs an alpha male. Im beginning to think that Rondo would be a stellar acquisition for this team.
Great post man. I love hearing the perspectives from fans of other teams about possible trades we've been talking about. Other then the jazz I'm a big fan of Rondo. Other then being a good passer he gives us some much needed nastiness. We get that from a couple vets in Watson and Bell but not from our top players. Rondo is one of my favorit players because of that nastiness and willingness to play tough defense. Having a pg that is a good shooter is not as big of a deal to me. I'm more interested in my pg getting layups for the team and himself which he does well.I've been a Celtics fan for all my life, but have really taken a liking for teams like the Grizzlies and the Jazz. Younger, high energy teams that always seem to be on the cusp of being great but never quite jumping the fence. I was amazed when Danny Ainge pulled off the move for the Big 3, ecstatic when we won in 2008, and crushed when we blew it in 2010. Now however, rebuilding is definitely on the horizon, and Danny Ainge would trade his wife if possible, to make rebuilding as quick and smooth as possible for this team.
Looking at the Jazz, from the outside, it seems like they have great bigs but lack a distributer and a really good point guard to get them the ball. Is this accurate? Obviously, Rondo could be perfect for you guys as he is a Pass/Defense first PG on an extremely manageable contract, (10Mil 4 years). Watching every game every night, I can give you pretty accurate pros and cons on the guy....
Pros
- One of if not the best passing PG in the league. Very creative and is a great floor manager. Will memorize everyone's spots and feed them the ball there.
- Great Defender; can shut guys down if he really wants to. Takes chances at times, but he hits on a lot of the gambles he takes.
- Rebounding pads his rebounding stats a bit, especially if he is close to a triple double, however he averages about 5-6 a game.
- Fast Breaks, Since the Celtics players are mostly reanimated corpses and slow, oft-injured, old men he has become really good at running fast breaks. Either finishing with a layup or passing to someone to finish.
- Scoring Not jumpshots, (we'll get to that later) but he averages over 14ppg and he can score at will, mostly by driving to the basket, if he really pushes himself, or if it is an important game.
- Effort/Drive Rondo, especially big game/playoff Rondo goes all out, diving for balls, sacrificing his body, and playing through injury. (See last year dislocating his elbow and still playing against the heat). He loves the game, and isn't just in it for the money.
Cons
- Inconsistency Last night against the Bucks, Rondo scored a triple double with 15 points, 11 Rebounds, and 10 Assists. The game before? 0 Points, 3 Rebounds, and 11 Assists. When Rondo really wants to, he can step up and play at an elite, top PG in the league style game. (See here) Problem is, he doesn't become that player that often. Maybe it's because his body can't handle it, who knows.
- Free Throws Rondo is bad Free throw shooter...plain and simple. He is shooting 61%...61% Horrible for a PG.
- Jumpshots Contrary to popular belief, Rondo can hit jumpshots...However after years constantly feeding the big 3 and never looking to shoot for himself, he has very little confidence in his shot, and rarely takes 16 footers.
- Personality Rondo is a sensitive guy and has a hard time dealing with constructive criticism. Him "fighting" with Doc Rivers is ridiculous is overblown and any bickering probably stems from Rondo not taking criticism well. He can step up and look like the best PG in the league against tougher opponents, but might take the night off in random games.

Overall, I'd say Rondo is a great player and I love having him on my team...5th best PG IMO...However, I would definitely be okay trading him to The Jazz. We already have 2 firsts, and if we can net more first round picks and trade up to get a lottery player, I would totally do that.
As a Celtics fan, I'd be most interested in picks/young players to help with rebuilding. Would you guys do Harris and your first? If not than what else? I'm interested what you guys think. If you have any questions, I could give you a Boston fans perspective.
Boom, I think I got it.
