If it were the west having him healthy to start would be a huge deal. In the East he can probably wait til 2018 to start playing and both teams would still be in the playoffs.

Yes but if he elects surgery now he might be out all year. I think it likely hampers him all year. I think ainge might have known it was bad and just downplayed it when it was to his advantage to do so. Then Cleveland looked and said bruh you sold us a lemon.

No way in hell is he getting surgery. If he really needed it he would have gotten it himself. He isn't going into his contract year with major hip surgery.

What if resting isn't working though... he just gonna gimp through the season. I really think Ainge figured out that surgery might be necessary and tried to move him for a replacement and so that he doesn't have to pay a guy coming off hip surgery.

I find it hard to believe Boston lied to Cleveland when discussing IT's hip as there is nothing positive that can come from it on their end. This just feels like Cleveland playing the media to try and get more out of Boston.

NBA teams have been deceitful in the past on this stuff and ainge is not on the short list of dudes I'd trust in NBA front offices.

I think there is a 50/50 shot IT needs surgery and the cavs want rozier or a first to shore up the position... I assume they'd move the first to get help if need be.

They sell them on it being better than it is and then hope the pass him on the physical anyway because the deal is so close to the finish line and the cavs have a rookie GM. They said it was worse than they thought... so worse than they were told them. They might have thought they'd pass him anyway.

Trades get voided for injuries and medical stuff... sometimes things get misdiagnosed... I don't think Cleveland is trying to eek out more assets when they think IT will really be fine. The deal was good for them if IT is healthy.

Easy? Nah they lose this deal and IT is healthy it's a huge risk for another first rounder. They get a premium pick and two great pieces while saving 30M... then say hey we can get some more if we act displeased with the physical.

I know they are... because they think IT is not as healthy as they were told and they need other assets to replace him.

I don't think this is a power play by a rookie GM... I think they have reason to doubt the guy can play this year. It's like doing a home inspection when you know there is an issue but you find out it is much worse... better get some more value or it's a bad deal.
