Central tank command : the official thread

I think Thabo has a ton of value... like more than Favs... easy contract to move... cheap second year... fits on every team basically.

I wouldn't trade him unless he was part of a deal for a first... won't get a first by himself I think unless someone really thinks they can beat the Warriors or Cavs.

The Cavs have a $5.8 million exception from the Kyrie trade. They could trade us their 2018 1st for Thabo and our 2nd pretty easily. That's a win, win trade for both of us I think. It would make them pay a ton more in luxury tax, but Gilbert said he's not worried about that right now.

He's lying... that'd be like $20M more in LT in addition to salary. I could see Thabo/Udoh for Shump and a first... saves them a bunch and they can cut Rose to get the roster spot... gives them an excuse to move on.

They aren't trading Shumpert unless they get a really good player for him. Cleveland lacks perimeter defenders so they can't trade one to get somebody like Thabo.

We could always trade Thabo for Osman and a couple nonguaranteed two way type contracts ($800,000 per year types). They wouldn't have that big of a luxury hit but they lose Osman. I doubt we can get the first in that deal.

I have heard they want him gone. He would save them money next year. He isn't durable and isn't the lock down guy people think he was at one time. I think they'd see it as a huge bonus... plus Thabo gives them what he is supposed to, but he's a smarter player.

No, because the Jazz will end up winning 7 in March and 6 in February or some such crap. Sure a high draft pick would be awesome. But the Jazz won't do what it takes.

Also if the Jazz are going to fully tank than just losing games isn't enough for me. Turn some of these players into picks and other assets. Favors, Burks, Udoh, Jerebko, Rubio... no half assing. Try to win them all or go whole hog in on the dark side. That's not the Jazz though...

For the sake of my sanity, can you please replace than with then and vice-versa every time you use either of those words? You use them backwards 100% of the time.

Not trying to be a jerk - I'll never get the difference between affect and effect and probably reverse them very often.

Shumpert is the guy they want to jettison most and they'd be right. He isn't good and his price tag is insanely high given the context (unnecessary and significant salary on a team paying repeater tax).

IF, IF Cleveland really wants Shumpert gone, then this is the trade and it's completely fair: http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=y9cqkff6

Favors, Thabo and maybe our 2nd
for
Shumpert, Osman, Calderon and the Brooklyn 1st for 2018

If they really want Shump gone and he is an issue for them, then they are not losing anything but the Brooklyn pick AND they are gaining two quality vets for their title run. The Brooklyn pick will barely be a lottery pick so it's worth it. They might keep Favors and Thabo for next year if they work out.

If the Jazz could find a willing 3rd partner under the cap to dump either Favors, Burks, or Exum, or a combination, then Shumpert or JR Smith and the unprotected Brooklyn pick could easily be here as soon as the flights arrive. I don't think that's nearly enough compensation to take on those contracts, but having a pick that's currently projected at 10, and another that's basically in a 9 way tie for 2nd is a whole lot to work with. The Jazz would also weaken their roster and give that 10th place pick a little boost.

If you see my proposal above, JR Smith, Burks and Exum don't even have to be involved. Favors and Thabo for Shumpert, Osman and Calderon gets it done financially. I guess the question would be, is there a 3rd team who really wants Shumpert? I'm happy with Osman and fine with Calderon.

TANK SZN!

Look it sucks being in the middle. We are close enough to landing in the 6-8 spot that we should make a few tank moves. Picking between one of the Bridges, Sexton, Jackson, Bamba is much better than Knox, Musa, Carter, etc. Maybe someone gives a godfather offer to move up like the rumored Charlotte deal years ago... and we get multiple chances at getting contributors.

Would give us a 10-20 percent chance at landing in the top 3... If that happens its Doncic, Young, Porter time and we never look back.

It's tank season move Favs, Thabo, Hood, Joe Jesus... bring up Bradley play O'Neale and go iso-AB in all the non-DM minutes. Give Ricky the greenest of green lights from three. Hold Gobert out an extra few weeks.

Tank. The. Eff. Out. This. B.
