Chad Ford Mock Draft 3.0

For those without Insider:

He still has the Jazz taking Knight at 3 and Singleton at 12.

Enes Kanter is projected at #4 for Cleveland.

Fredette is projected at #15 to Indiana. The most interesting part of the blurb there is the notion that he might be a scoring fixture a la Ben Gordon. Earlier I've compared Fredette's play (and particularly his ability to suddenly square his shoulders to the rim) to Vinnie Johnson's, but I like the Ben Gordon comparison. Very similar physical profile.

Other players of note that get a lot of digital ink in this space: Bismark Biyombo is slotted at #9. If Jordan drafts him that's a virtual guarantee that he busts. Klay Thompson is slotted at #18 and Alex Burks is slotted at #13.

Cleveland has got to be loving those projections. Boom, they get Irving and Kanter. If I were the jazz I'd be telling them we were taking Kanter and see what they were willing to cough up.

Agreed. If we love Knight and they really want Kanter then we should try to make a deal.

Ford almost made the Hayward call last year, gave several hints toward it, but couldn't quite bring himself to slot him at 9 in his final mock.

KOC has made it clear Jazz will draft BPA.
Kanter is the consensus BPA at #3.
The End.

KOC and Corbin have said fairly succinctly that college experience is a big need. Kanter has about zero hours of college experience. Just saying.

This might be so in some instances. But he practiced with KU for awhile as well as playing professionally over in Europe.

This is obviously not the consensus. I would love this if it were to happen.

If it was any other team picking #3 I think most mock drafts would have Kanter at #3.
Jazz just happens to have a loaded front court, and looking for a future PG with the Deron situation.

I wouldn't be mad with Knight, but I have some concerns and ultimately think Kanter is the better pick for numerous reasons.

With all the positive news about Kanter, and Derrick Williams playing the position of their best players, I don't understand why the T-Wolves will NOT pick Kanter. Ford mentioned they may trade the pick, but what position will they be trading for? Got to be a center right? If yes, then why wouldn't they take Kanter??

Didn't they sign Darko to a 4-year contract for $20mil, also Pekovic as a back up C?

Also Kahn had been very public about how high he is on Darko (Ref: Kahn's infamous interview with Webber).

So I think picking Kanter would just be too akward...

.. but then again it's Kahn we're talking about here, anything's possible..

I'd play hardball with Cleveland if they REALLY want Kanter. O'Connor should tell them that the Jazz have no problems taking Kanter, and if they want him, it'll cost them their 2012 pick unprotected. No deal? Keep Kanter and start calling Toronto and Washington.

He says the Jazz will take Alec Burks AND Chris Singleton with the 12th. AMAZING that we can do that.

"Ted (NC)

Is Gordon Hayward a 2 or 3? Shouldn't the Jazz consider putting him at the 2 and drafting a 3 with AK47's contract ending?
Chad Ford (1:34 PM)

They do see him as a 2 which is why I have them taking Chris Singleton at No. 12."

"Matt (Seattle, WA)

Klay Thompson seems like a great fit for the Suns, moreso than Jimmer. Any chance he goes there at #13?
Chad Ford (1:30 PM)

He could. I actually have the Jazz taking Alec Burks in Mock Draft. 3.0. Jimmer is going to the Pacers. But Thompson's shooting ability would make him an attractive fit too."
