What's new

Chances the core 4 stick together?

It all comes down to this summer. If the Jazz can get Favors resigned to a good/value contract (the biggest problem is, what is Favor's value? We don't know because he hasn't played), but if they can get Favors for a 4/40 extension, and Gordon to a little bit better deal (4/48), and NOT resign Al or Paul, then the odds are very good this team stays together.

If they resign Al to 15+ a year, kiss two of the four goodbye. If they resign Millsap, kiss one of the four goodbye.

This is where underclassman coming to the NBA hurts their first team.

Hayward & Favors are now just developing into assets 3 years into their deal.

Make it tough.

Hayward - He wants to win. I think his decision is based on his assessment of team. If we are always a 6-8 seed he will leave. Others have said this will be Haywards team. I don't see it. We certainly are not treating him that way. Hayward would start on most teams. Should be on ours. Every players wants to start(ego) and finish games despite what they say. Hayward needs to be starting NOW and have the offense run through him instead of Al.
Burks - I've grown to like him. As others have stated, I see him leaving as soon as he can.
Favors - Chance he stays becasue he seems more reserved. I think he will be tied to Hayward somewhat. If Hayward goes, I think Favors goes. They have a nice chemistry that if broken keeps all options open.
Kanter - He may stay for 1 extension.

Just my thoughts.

I firmly believe that Hayward likes Utah but his first choice is to play in Indiana. I can see Kanter staying as long as the pay is reasonable. I think Favors is upset with how he has been treated (justifiable) and is willing to stay only if he gets the big money here. I don't see anyway Burkes is here in 5 years.
