1. Devon Harris should be fully healthy; he was dinged up last season, which reduced his effectiveness and PT.
2. Adding Jamaal Tinsley should help us through stretches when either Harris or Watson need some down time or reduced minutes. He's a way better PG than Ronnie Price. Hopefully he's truly matured as advertised.
3. Replacing Kirilenko with Howard will help us offensively as well as defensively. Kirilenko's biggest asset was his help defense, although that sometimes backfired. Drove Sloan crazy at times. If he is at least a shadow of his former self on the court and has really matured as advertised, he'll be a big contributor.
4. Hopefully Raja Bell is fully healthy, as he too battled injuries last season and wasn't himself.
5. Adding Alex Burks should help us with depth; he appears to be a smart solid all-round offensive player willing to work and has the desire to excel. His defense will come in time, which could hold down his PT, at least early in the season.
6. A slimmed down CJ HOPEFULLY will increase his effectiveness both offensively and defensively.
7. Hayward should be stronger and now has a full year of NBA experience.
8. Jeremy Evans now has a year in the NBA too, and supposed has greatly improved his jump shot. He will be our new ENERGY guy off the bench, replacing Ronnie Price in that way.
9. A much improved Derrick Favors, both in strength, size, and basketball skill-level. He's worked hard in the off-season.
10. Millsap has another year, and seems to add new skills every off-season.
11. Al Jefferson has busted his butt this summer to get into better shape and has a year under his belt in a Jazz uniform.
12. Enes Kanter, even as a rookie, should be a huge upgrade over Fes or Elson. The fact we traded Okur indicates he and Favors are gonna see a lot of PT. Kanter is big, hard-working, smart, and tough.
Bottom line - I think KoC has done an outstanding job, but we are young and the wild wild West is very competitve, so we will be inconsistant. Our depth should really help us through the rough spots, so long as coach Ty is willing to pull guys who are struggling and let the bench guys on the floor.

There are a lot of shoulds and maybes in that list. If everything breaks our way, then will be in the playoffs.

It is more likely that about half the players are disappointments and the other half make positive changes. Which would leave us close to the playoffs but on the outside looking in.

Is Tinsley a net positive? He isn't a pressure defender or a jump shooter. He won't be blocking shots. However he might be able to get our other players involved.

This is what we are counting on big time. But as we saw in the 2nd preseason game- his minutes will be limited by foul trouble.

10. Millsap has another year, and seems to add new skills every off-season.
This is true but when to he hit his limit as basketball player? If he has a 3pt shot this year, are there any holes in his game?

11. Al Jefferson has busted his butt this summer to get into better shape and has a year under his belt in a Jazz uniform.
He is trying harder. I haven't seen any real changes yet.

12. Enes Kanter, even as a rookie, should be a huge upgrade over Fes or Elson. The fact we traded Okur indicates he and Favors are gonna see a lot of PT. Kanter is big, hard-working, smart, and tough.
I am sure Kanter is better than Fess/Elson.

Slightly off topic but it is a about changes so what the heck

Corbin was talking about going in a new direction with the starters that are to be announced later today. Any ideas/thoughts on who will start. I am personally hoping Hayward and Favors start.

He's also talked about a balance between youth and veterans and that some guys who should be starters might not be. My guess is that he's talked quite a bit to Millsap, trying to sell Paul on being the leader of the 2nd group. Hopefully the "demotion" won't affect Paul's attitude or effort if it happens. My bet for starters is: Jefferson, Favors, Hayward, Bell and Harris. That's a decent balance of youth/vets and also includes a couple of guys who don't necessarily need a lot of touches. Hope Jefferson is in better hape because I want to see Harris really push the ball.

Second unit would include three scorers in Millsap, Burks and CJ and a great distributor in Watson. Kanter just concentrates on rebounding and defense when he gets his 15 mins/per. Do it right and the Jazz should really have an advantage over the older teams. The 2nd unit should also be better than the opoosing subs of most teams. For example, if the starters tonight can play to a near draw against Kobe and Gasol, the subs should be able to outscore the Lakers' second unit.

If If's and Butt's were candy and nuts, every day would be Christmas.

How would your *** being made out of candy and nuts make it christmas? Are you talking about peanuts and corn and their relationship with your ***? You have a bizarre idea of "presents".

Ex-coach Phil Johnson was spot-on when he said Ronnie Price was simply NOT a PG, meaning seeing the floor and distributing the ball. Tinsley is.
Definitely a sell job for Millsap; really surprised he's so hung up about starting.
" If If's and Butt's were candy and nuts, every day would be Christmas. " - I'll have to remember that one!
Yes, with so much youth, If's and But's will dominate our season. It's up to Coach Ty to find the hot hand(s) and keep them on the floor. I expect it to vary game to game.
Great to have a spell-checker on board...
