What's new

Channing Frye opting out of his contract...

Frye is 31 years old and had injury problems, he fits perfectly because he is on the decline and will give Kanter time to improve without fully hindering his growth.

Someone like Ryan Anderson who would fit well but he is 5 years younger than Frye and would hamper Kanter's growth.

I like the thought of bringing in Frye because he fills the void that will be created when the other veteran leaders like Jefferson and Marvin go elsewhere. He gives us someone to bitch about.
lol

Wait... Huh?

Gobert can't play the 4. Tomic isn't here. Nor can he play the 4. Who's our backup 4? Who's our starting 4 if Kanter continues to suck as a starter?

If anything, Frye makes the most sense. He does stuff that no one on our team can. He's like the black Money Memo.

So I guess we should just play Favors and Kanter 28 minutes a night each, Gobert 8, Tomic 4, and Frye 28? Because that's how many minutes a night Frye got last year. 28. And therein lies the first problem. We need to inundate these youngsters with a lot of playing time to develop and truly see what we have with what we perceive to be, for the first time in quite a while, adequate coaching. Signing him precludes us from doing that. Unless of course he's willing to go from 28 minutes a night to 14 which I highly doubt. The second problem is Frye's age. While we could use a veteran presence here, signing one to eat up minutes that our youngsters sorely need is a move I'm not interested. I already saw that movie under Corbin.
