Charlotte next for Hayward - Big Al helping recruit....

I understand that we're going to have to overpay Hayward. Hopefully we can scare off enough teams that we won't have to overpay him the max (if someone offers him the max, i say we tie up their ****ing money for all three days, before signing him at the last second). But we will have to overpay him.

To the people who say don't overpay him: what else are we going to spend the money on? We're not going to be good for a few years. We're not doing anything else with the money. We'd probably be able to resign Burks and Kanter, certainly Burks, and I'd much rather have Hayward than Kanter. If Exum turns out to be great, Hayward's contract will be up as soon as we'd have to pay him. No big free agent is going to sign here unless we develop them.

Hayward is as good of a value as we'll get with the money. Would be ****ing stupid to let him walk for nothing.

I hope we can scare off the other teams and get him for 12 million. If you don't like him at 12 million, tell me what else we should do with it.

I'm not going to wade into the discussion of how much Hayward is actually worth, as I think you've got to have crystal balls to do so. I don't. But I totally agree with some of the above: 1) Not my money, even if I float a little of it to the Miller family, so they'll surely spend it how they want (and apparently make more money all the way, based on the profitability I saw in another thread). 2) If Hayward gets a huge contract I'm not that worried -- we don't currently have anyone else worthy of conversations for max contracts at this point. When some of the guys we have get to where they're worth a max contract Hayward will either be finishing off a stellar 3 years and serving crow or he'll be attractive in a salary dump to somebody. 3) The ceiling is going up. Whatever he gets won't deter us from signing other contracts next year or the year after. 4) We're not really looking for any high paid vets right now. If Lebron suddenly decides Utah is in the picture, then that's a problem we want to have. 5) Even if we were after the top shelf of talent and even if we had MAX money to throw at them (Lebron, Bosh, Duncan (yes, I know he's sewn up) they're not coming to Utah for ANY contract until we prove we can win -- and even then it'll be iffy). 6) We've got assets in future drafts (I'm actually glad we stashed this year's second) and are likely to pick up more. Seems to be the plan. (One last parenthetical to say I'm done using parentheticals here).

You do realize the offseason is more than just one week, right?

People are losing patience already? What else are we going to talk about for this boring month?

You can't be a true Jazz Fan unless you learn to HATE our players. Let the hate flow through you. . .Give yourself over to the Dark Side. Hayward should play for FREE! and it should piss you off that other teams want to have him. Who does he think he IS!!!

Enough with the whining about people discussing what they feel the worth of a player is. I mean no one should be able to say a bad thing about the chosen one or they will be called haters. Few Jazz fans hate Hayward, but most of us don't think it is a good idea to extremely overpay for a person who isn't a number 1 option. No one is asking him to play for free. Heck 7 million dollars is more money than most people could even imagine making.

Hayward doesn't own us a thing. He got drafted here. He showed up and gave a legit 4 years of work. He should get what his market worth is. He doesn't need to give us a discount or anything else. If he is worth $12 mil, then pay him 12.

I know that if I had a real chance at a job to make 12 mil a year; there is no way I way say well actually I only want 7.
