Breakfast today: 4 eggs and two slices of whole-wheat bread, cost $1.00 ($2.00 on the days I have fruit instead of bread)
Lunch: 1 cup oatmeal, two cups of water, cinnamon, about $.25
Afternoon snack: 1 cup oatmeal, two cups of water, red pepper, about $.25
So, by the time I get home to supper, I'll have spent $1.50 today on food. On days I go crazy, $2.50.
You cutting weight or something? You ever fatigued? I have always wanted to experiment more with just eating totally cheap, but I don't think I could whittle it down that much. Needs more calories unless you totally go to town with dinner. I'd probably go the lentils route if I was constructing an on the cheap meal plan. Monsoor Dal. 1 cup ~ 700 calories. Get like an 8 lb bag of that crap, go 2.5 cups a day, and mix in a few things here and there. Couldn't be that much.
