Gasol's value has gone way down. Lakers save money with this trade. Lakers need more perimeter defense. Lakers need a stretch 4. This deal accomplishes that.
Toronto, as I said, has the least incentive to do this trade, but I outlined the reasons they might consider it. I think it is a good starting point.
Boston has all sorts of rumors attached to them. I highly doubt KG or Pierce moves, that leaves Rondo. Millsap is no scrub and Mo is a very competent starter. Boston has been rumored to want Redick and Foye has very similar numbers at a lower cost. All those contracts are expiring. A 3 starters for 1 deal that sheds money is not so easily dismissed.
Again, I don't think the Jazz make a trade of this magnitude since they are playing ok, but as a fan, this is the type of trade I would like to see them do.
I guess we disagree on the 'balance' of this trade, but it's not as bad as you make it up to be.
