Pay raises are an area of disagreement. The main one is over the teacher evaluation system, but don't discount the pay issue entirely.
 
So in reading about the strike a bit, the biggest issue is that the teachers are opposed to an evaluation system where 40% of the teachers' scores would be based on standardized test scores. I agree with the teachers that that there are a lot of factors that affect those scores, some of which the teachers have no control over (such as having students from poor households as opposed to rich ones for example). That said, I don't think test scores should be left out altogether. I'm thinking 20% would be a better weight for that part of the evaluations.
