Christianity shrinking in U.S.; Mormon numbers essentially flat

I'm talking about the before part of salvation...if you're talking about after salvation then I would agree with you.

Just to clarify, I'm saying that my good acts do not bring me closer to salvation. That would be me saving myself, I cannot save myself. I believe God leads us to salvation, and we can either choose to accept or reject that salvation.

I hope that makes sense, I know it's a tricky topic and very difficult for me to express in type. I don't want to come off as legalistic and heartless.

So you are saying salvation is achieved when you say you believe in Christ? Can it ever be taken away? If it can be taken away, is it a lack of faith evidenced by your good works that causes you to lose salvation?

To the first question: yes.

To the second: I don't believe salvation can be taken away, but not everybody agrees. Depends on interpretation. I don't view it as a salvation point though. Hope that makes sense! Good questions btw.

I think it's interesting that this is such a hot topic among Christians. To me, it doesn't seem like a sticking point, and it doesn't seem to be my cj of one to you either. I remember when I found out that other Christians didn't consider Mormons to be Christians, and I was super confused why that would be. To me, it would be like an Anglican calling a Lutheran a non-Christian. We are all cut from the same cloth, just trying to be disciples of Christ.

I do agree with your assertion that a lot of those people who are claiming to be Christian (70+%?) are probably not acting like Christians should. I would probably word it differ toy, like saying "they are not practicing what they preach", but the gist is the same. They can not be true disciples and a the way they do.

My alter-ego would get me thrown in prison.

I think it is all stupid. Alts, deactivating and coming back as another poster, name changes to hide after an abscence...

What's funny to me is that the people posting over it are the ones that have done so.

If you don't like your online "persona" than don't act that way.

As for loss of Salvation:

What if someone is "saved" and lives a very christlike life and then something changes. They fall away and start doing drugs, abusing their wife, stealing, lying, blashpemying the Lord...they would "lose" their salvation correct? (Mostly for Howard). To me the absolutely would and things like this happen regularly.
