I like the mountain. I think it sells Utah. Let's be honest, Utah doesn't exactly sell itself. Even if Utah does somewhat live up to the stereotypes people still have a warped view of it. A lot of people think Utah is nothing but desert and polygamists.
 
I actually don't mind the mountains behind the note. If done well, it could potentially look really cool...imo.
 
I like both the the first two.

Main thing is that the note is better than mtns so the note has to be prevalent.

I do like the note mtns combo though.
 
The note with the mountains is better than the current logo. But it's still a bit busy. I made some quick adjustments to unbusify it.

I love the note with the mountains. It captures both the tradition and what is special about the location to me. The fact that Denver has some mountains in their logo is not a reason that Utah shouldn't. The Wasatch Front is a far more dramatic backdrop to a city than the Frontrange is so if any logo should be without mountains it ought to be theirs.

He dropped the stripe behind the a & first z. It looks like he also took out some shadows on the mountain.

I like them both quite a bit. Though for whatever reason I kinda like hey heys better. (I like both of you equally as posters though, so don't get all upset at me)
