Coach Rose to Utah?

On the subject of the thread, I can't see Rose leaving BYU for Utah. BYU has several very good recruits (Demarcus Harrision, Carlino, etc.) coming in.

Stew has won the WAC regular season 4 years in a row and WAC coach of the year I believe three years in a row. He is consistently in the top 25 or at least "others receiving votes". He has one of the best in the nation winning percentages over the last 10 years. I know a few months ago I read it was 3rd best behind I believe Duke and Kentucky. Finally he has 6 seniors leaving this year including the WAC MVP. If there was ever a time to leave while the going was good, this is it. The Utes would be fools to not at least call him to gauge his level of interest.

And once the recruits land on campus he also gets to have the constant worry that they may accidently drink a cup of coffee or watch a rated R movie right as his team is poised for a deep run into late March/early April. Starting next year he also gets to deal with the reality that his athletic dept. sold every BYU sports program up the river so they could make their football team an independent.

Meanwhile, if Chris Hill decides to offer him Utah's coaching job, Rose would have the chance to bolt to a school going to a much bigger conference, the chance to probably make more money (Utah isn't as concerned with bidding wars), and would still have the opportunity to recruit the mormon athlete as well as more leeway when it came to recruiting non-LDS players.

Don't get me wrong, Dave Rose seems pretty loyal to BYU and I think if he ever leaves he wouldn't go to Utah out of that very same sense of loyalty. But let's be honest, even with as bad as Utah's program is right now, it's still a better job. Hands down.
