What's new

Coal Aldrich

Whiteside was my dude (I forgot he was in that draft though) and I also was cool with aldrich.

Ed Davis wouldn't have pissed me off either. I just remember wanting a big guy and being pissed when we took Hayward.

Hayward is a bawse now

I was so pissed too. I couldn't believe it. I wanted Paul George though.

I'm glad we got Hayward though, even if Paul George is good. Paul George got brittle legs.

And nothing cooler than having one of the few white guys that are really good. He's the new great white hope

Like most people, I didn't really follow the draft that much. I remember really wanting Monroe to fall to us or to move up to get Cousins. Hayward wasn't really on my radar, but I was never mad about drafting him. Just remember my dad making fun of Utah for drafting another white guy.

I think Jazz fans had a bit of a knee-jerk reaction about Hayward that had more to do with the perception we're a "white" team.
I for one was hoping to shake that and drafting Hayward just compounded the problem, in my mind. Obviously, I was being a nancy about the whole thing. I was just convinced, in the moment, that skin color and marketability had a lot to do with the decision and it clouded my judgement of the kid.

lol.. I just posted about the white guy thing. And I clearly wanted Cousins.. and contrary to what others may want to believe, the Jazz were 100% asking UK about Cousins and I thought they were going to make a move.

Same with me.

I guess I'm racist against white basketball players.

Admittedly, it had a lot to do with his skin color.

By the end of the week I had myself talked into thinking he's the next Larry Bird though. I wanted to believe it.

It was a bold move by KOC. I'm still pretty critical of him, but that was a damn good pick. Part of me wonders if he just got lucky. But he did put himself out there by doubling down and saying just wait a couple years.

I also think it's a lot harder for people to scout from a far. GM'S can get up close and get a lot better look at players and get a feel for personalities, and their presence.. Something most of us can't do.

Damn, surprised at some of the draft love for the Aldrich man. I probably watched him more than anyone on this site and thought very little of his NBA prospects. Still liked him way better than Withey doe, who I had absolutely no hope for. How are these dudes doing in the NBA anyways? Haven't heard much from either so I'd assume they aren't doing all that well

Aldrich struggles to get minutes on the Knicks. Probably won't be in the NBA much longer.

Withey doesn't get minutes on the Pelicans. I think he will last a bit longer though. He was a 2nd round pick, so he doesn't have the bust stigma attached to him.
