I hate to defend the NCAA on anything, but making it about the money isn't necessarily crooked in and of itself.
College teams play vastly different schedules. Using record alone doesn't work so there is lots of gray area and wiggle room for maneuvering teams.Sorry but how is: We are making a seeding 1 through 64 and we'll swap like 25 seeds around because we want more tv revenue from the first rounds not crooked? I mean if I'm the 7 seed Pacers, how is it fair to be matched against the 1 seed Hawks in round 1 just because Adam Silver feels like a rematch of this series from last year with reversed seeds would be a better story and bring more money? Meanwhile the 8 seed Bobcats with Lance Stephenson can play against LeBron again because of its drama potential? Meanwhile the 4 seed Bulls play against the 6 seed Milwaukee because of proximity and they want a big market to have an easier way through the bracket. And the 5 seed Wizards have to play against Toronto.

Nah, I don't think it's a good analogy at all. Would also further reduce the incentive for effort within the NBA, at least, at the top.Well but PKM said something about they try to create stories and that affects their decision making in terms of seeding. What if the NBA tried that as well to a bigger extent than what they're trying to do with conference separation.
Simply an analogy. Not a bad one in my eyes.

MASSIVE difference between the NBA and NCAA. 30 vs. 300+ teams. UK has a basketball budget that's bigger than the entire MWC, I bet.
There's no draft.. on and on. In other words, the parity people like to talk about in cbb is insanely less than that of the NBA.
I am NOT taking up for the evil NCAA, but I don't have much problem with how they do the brackets.
Yeah, but single elimination creates a lot of parity.
