What's new

College Football *2015*

I'm very interested to see the Utah State game. I'm not sold on Washington or Boise. This game will be telling...maybe. If Utah State wins, then there is a very good chance Wash doesn't go bowling and Boise had no business being ranked.

Also excited to see Cal and Texas. Good gauge for Cal.

I had Stanford winning the North. They can make me look less silly with a win over USC.

Utah should destroy Fresno.

I heard UCLA is predicted to destroy the team they are playing.

That covers any games worth watching that involve any sort of relevant team.

I think people are underrating Boise St. Odds are that they win out at this point. Their front seven is pretty stout and with a few more games under his belt, their quarterback should be pretty solid. BYU's receivers gave them match up problems, but BYU receivers should give most teams match up problems, especially in single coverage with a quarterback that can keep it up high.

-Wouldn't mind it one bit if my team never played BYU again (a fact that I didn't realize until this two year hiatus came along).

This seems odd to me. Nothing makes me happier than crushing the spirit of the nut punchers. I look forward to the next time we get to abuse them again.

Eh. Wash is bad. They are not good. Boise barely beat a bad Wash team and lost to a mediocre G5 team. There is a reason why Boise is "underrated". They've looked terrible so far.

Boise states defense is definitely legit.
I'm not sure about their offense

For me, listening to them panic about whether their program can survive independence or not is more satisfying than any beat down. Of course things always change, and this will too. If they find their way into the Big 10 (the only P5 option that appears remotely feasible) then I hope we re-establish a rivalry. If they choose to dangle in independence hell forever (a decision that is mostly motivated by their own arrogance) I wouldn't mind if we just allowed them to dry up and blow away.

I think their front 7 is extremely nasty, but after watching BYU receivers run behind their secondary all game long, I have a hard time calling them "legit".
Byu does have a very good, very deep receiving core though. WR is byu's best position on the entire team.
I do see your point though as there were a number of blown coverages for deep balls. They did a great job of taking away the short stuff and byu's passing game didn't due much if not for 3 passes (84 yarder, 70 yarder, and 35 yarder iirc) and boise shut down byu's best receiver (matthews).... Mostly cause #2 in Boise secondary is a stud.

Come to think of it, all three of those big pass plays were broken plays where the qb scrambled and bought allot of time. Byu's passing game really didn't execute very well at all despite passing for allot of yards

It's going to be a VERY interesting next 2 weeks in regards to in-state football. IMO, Utah State has a pretty good chance to go up to Seattle and beat a bad UW team and follow that up with a home win over Boise. BYU has UCLA/Michigan. Both are obviously common opponents for Utah and I'm intrigued to see how BYU looks in their 2 toughest games to date (I think Michigan is a little bit better than Nebraska). Utah has what hopefully is a snoozer vs Fresno, but Oregon looms and with Vernon Adams looking "meh" so far and nursing a broken finger, if Utah can clean some things up, I think they'll push the Ducks in Eugene.

Very interesting thoughts on USU. I guess none of us know because it's so early in the season, but this is a team that was fortunate to beat a SUU (SUU!) 12-9 with a hobbled QB who has looked awful in the first two games. I see UW beating them by 3 TDs. And unless Boise is extremely down from where they've been the last 15 years, they shouldn't have any trouble dispatching of the Aggies. Again, hard to know, so you may very well be right, but I can't get past 12-9 and the poor QB play.

I think you mean the Big "XII".

BYU will probably get an invite but only after half the BIG "XII" schools have bailed. The New Big "10" TV deal is going to cause more shakeups, "Sooner" or later. Yep, Oklahoma. Either the Pac 16 happens or they unilaterally head to the SEC. Dominoes.

True enough about BYU's WR's. Even with Covey being a bright spot, this is the first time since I don't remember when that I would take BYU's position group over Utah's. I think Mitch Mathhews is the tool of all tools, but that group is legit.
