GSW- Frontcourt was a lot more crowded this year than backcourt. The backcourt all-defense is relatively bad as compared to other years while forward was stacked

Raptors- So safe to say Embiid likely didn’t win DPOY if he ended up on 2nd team right? Edit: I’m aware Marc Gasol and Tyson Chandler won it, I’m just saying it seems like his odds could be lower

Wolves- The reason why there have been discrepancies like that in the past is because All-Defensive teams were determined by coaches and DPOY by media members. After Gasol won in 2013, they changed it to having the media determine each.

76ers- I think Gobert deserves it but there's still a small chance for Joel. Marc Gasol won when he was 2nd team but a lot of people thought LeBron deserved it that year.

76ers- 100% Embiid didn't win DPOY. Not cuz of this, Gobert was talked about as a certainty for DPOY after Embiid got injured

Raptors- Yeah the main knock against Gobert was that he missed significant time with injury. Embiid going down to end the regular season meant that he only played 7 more games than Gobert.

Heat- Gasol and Chandler won it because

a) back then writers voted for DPOY, coaches voted for All-Defensive

b) writers really didnt want LeBron to win DPOY

Raptors- Looking at the difference in 1st and 2nd team votes between the two guys, it’s pretty much guaranteed Gobert will win DPOY.

Those who say Chandler/Gasol, the votes for all-defense were relatively close in 2013 and much fewer media members used to vote back then compared to now (used to be about 30, now its 100). That won’t happen again.

GSW- No Kawhi??? Almost no one scored on him all year.

Suns- Gobert still made it and will most likely win DPOY

Lakers- Yup, his impact was more elite in the games he played.

Celtics- And how much more valuable to a defense an elite rim protector, who can switch well, is than a guard. Even a guard like Marcus.

Celtics- Is Covington the first all defensive team member to be a defensive liability in the playoffs?

Thunder- Funny how the voters put AD to the PF or C slot to make sure he gets All-Defensive or All-NBA first team.

Suns- I mean the positions are useless anyways just like the all-star team, its basically 3 wings and 2 bigs every time and it looks like they wanted Gobert and AD on first team as they're definitely top 5 defensive players in the league

Unk- i am honestly quite shocked. voters are getting really smart about basketball in general rather than penciling in kobe for defensive first team every year.

Celtics- Biggest surprises to me: the lack of Paul George, the inclusion of Murray, Oladipo making first team instead of second. I also thought KD would end up on second team. Shows how bad I can be at predictions. All deserving picks, however. Edit: Also kind of surprised at the lack of Giannis. There were a lot of deserving candidates this year.

Heat- How the **** do the Pelicans finish with the 13th ranked defense and put 2 guys on the 1st team???

Magic- Damn in like January there were talks about PG winning DPOY now he's not even all-defense

Raptors- Love that Jrue & AD are getting recognized (especially Jrue), but when was the last time a slightly above average regular season defensive team had 2 1st team all defenders?

Lakers- It's gonna be so ****ing stupid when AD makes the All-Defensive team as a forward (because he wasn't making it over Gobert), and then will probably make the All-NBA First Team as a center. If that happens, they either have to eliminate positions in All-NBA/All-D teams altogether, or lock each player so they can only be voted for as a G, F or C instead of allowing the voters to put whoever at whatever spot.

Hawks- Rudy DOPY ?

Grizzlies- im surprised no one on the Rockets made it, weren't they a top 5 defensive team this year?

Rockets- I can't believe they got it right this year
