Corbin has worried me today

Yeah what on earth would give you the belief that Corbin's rotations are based on playing ability / contribution ? Dude has a perma. hard-on for vets.

What would you consider beating him out? 14 pt/36 at .515 TS% versus 10 pt/36 at .580 TS% with better defense? Going to look solely at +-? Or is it just an obviously unbiased "eye" test where one would obviously win over the other no matter how they performed? Highlight plays? What?

In any case, the rotational minutes shouldn't fall into the 3 ABA trap Corbin had last year. PG-Wing-Bigs all had starter-reserve-starter predictable rotations for each half with the only question on which big/wing would come out first when a single starter returned. Corbin would then keep the starters in a lot longer than one would think, and bring back starters with no less than 2-3 minutes left, as a rule (exceptions happened). Rotation shouldn't be so rigid.
 
Maybe I just shouldn't care. I'm sure Dennis Lindsey just views this as confirmation of what a tool of a coach that was hired before he got here.
 
I agree that Rush and Jefferson have a role on this team. Technically Brickins does as well. He can warm a seat for the players in the game. When they come out he moves over a chair and warms the next one.
 
Only Coach Corbin STARTS a SF who didn't even play any quality minutes on his last 2 teams.

Many followers of the Utah Jazz thought Tyrone Corbin would start Gordon Hayward at small forward and Alec Burks at shooting guard, however when the head coach put out his first unit on Tuesday one of those players was on the bench. That player was Burks as Corbin started Hayward at shooting guard and Richard Jefferson at small forward.

"We want to see Alec coming off the bench right now -- see if he gives us some punch off the bench," Corbin told The Salt Lake Tribune.

According to the newspaper, the starting lineup is not set for the regular season, however Corbin likes the idea of having Jefferson's experience as part of the group that also includes Derrick Favors, Enes Kanter and rookie Trey Burke.

Burks produced 14 points, four assists and three rebounds off the bench against Golden State and that is what Corbin wants from the shooting guard.

"I don’t know which way we may go with that yet. We’ll see. But he gives us punch off the bench because he can put the ball in the hole," said Corbin. "He can make things happen quickly."

Based on what I saw in the scrimage and the first game I like starting Jefferson. With Rush and Marvin injured starting Burks would mean Jefferson has to lead the second unit with Lucas. Jefferson can play some D, set screens and facilitate play while spreading the floor for the starters. Simply the veteran presence playing smart ball with no expectations or scoring responsibilities. It is called asset management. It will be better for burks in the long run as well.
