What's new

Corbin's defensive adjustments are working...

I hope they really push defense on Hayward, Evans, Kanter, Favors and Burks. Get them defense oriented while they are still new to the league and are more open to listening and have the heart and dedication to improve.

Our defense is too chaotıc right now, and until we make the roles of players more clear and giving more responsiblity to certain players we will remain the same. Because right now, no one knows whats the true purpose of the team, to make playoffs? to trade Big Al and give Kanter and Favors more time? to go young and build a future team after this year? Until we make things clear about the team chemistry, our defense will remain chaotic, will be good if the opposite team misses the 3 pointers, and will be ruined if we play against powerful teams.

The purpose is to make playoffs. THe players and coaching staff have stated this several times. So many minutes are being given out because of the amount games in a small time frame.

honestly i dont know if making playoffs this year will bring us any good except some additional game receipts. If we made playoffs while young guys taking major mins and they get this experience it would be good, but if lets say Burks and Kanter will get 10 mins for each 5-6 playoff games, that doesnt make any difference

1) ALWAYS try to make the playoffs; 2) NEVER predetermine a player WILL be good; 3) ALWAYS make ALL players earn whatever minutes they get.

I realize from your thousands of posts that you're only concerned about Kanter getting 49 minutes a night. But there is actual logic to doing things this way. 1) You establish a culture that helping a team win gets you minutes, not your "potential." 2) Young players arguably develop better when they are consistently put in positions to succeed -- ie. quality of minutes is more important than quantity; 3) When (good) veterans play, they keep their trade value up which increases the value of ALL assets across the board. 4) It actually IS very important for a small market team like the Jazz to optimize profits which REQUIRES winning and the playoff bump is appreciable to the bottom line.

Can you explain to me why the Jazz traded Dantley away? My understanding is that the Jazz believed in Malone and Stockton and Dantley was taking away from those two growing at a more rapid pace.

As I recall, Dantley and the Jazz weren't getting along too well. It wasn't an amicable parting.

Indeed. Hence the refusal to retire the number for so long.

Screw this. We need to create a culture like the state does where nothing is merit based and parity becomes the norm to the point that employees have nothing to work toward. Play the youngins and give them everything they ask for. Suchsess babey!

i'm with billy -- you always try to get to the playoffs. young teams almost never win on their first trip to the playoffs, so if you want the jazz to be good in 2013, 2014, etc., then guys like derrick favors and gordon hayward need to get there, feel the difference in playoff basketball, earn some reps when the games count the most and the pressure is highest, etc.

the difference between the 10th pick in the draft and the 15th is negligible. the difference between our young core having playoff experience and not having playoff experience is huge -- even if that playoff experience is just a quick ***-kicking to start.

Look no further than what's going on in Washington. Freaking Mo Evans had to call a players only meeting where his main point was guys playing like they were entitled.
