Could have gotton O. J. Mayo

I know there will be many opinions on this, but I think Millsap and a pick would have been an overpay for Mayo.

I really like Millsap's game with the Jazz, and see him as a cornerstone going forward. The rotation we saw tonight with Elson and Favors backing up Millsap and Big Al looked good. I could also see Big Al playing the 4 with Fes getting some play at 5.

With Okur questionable, and Evans still really young and skinny, I see Millsap as less than disposable at this point.

There will not be many opinions on this. It's a terrible trade for Utah. Millsap straight up for Mayo is a terrible trade for Utah. That GS pick for Mayo is a terrible trade for Utah. Few if any will agree with the OP on wanting this trade. And I'm in the Millsap is not that great crowd. I still think this trade is completely trash.

The Pacers were willing to give away Josh McRoberts and you're talking about giving up a starter AND a pick? Dude, no. Just no.

AS much as I hate Raja and CJ, I have to say "hold the Mayo." Yeah, I know, but someone was going to say it.

I think the GS pick, or our own lottery pick (if we miss the playoffs) can net us a good PG. I think some teams will be looking to cut salary if/when the new CBA goes into effect. Utah is well-positioned with AK's salary coming off the books and Okur's expiring after next season. We also have the MLE available and will likely have space under the luxury tax to use it. So draft a SF with NJ's pick and trade for a veteran SG.

Unless the Jazz can get Irving (unlikely), I doubt they go with a PG. Reason being Devon Harris is no slouch and only 27. He will be in his prime for another 3 years. There is also a glut of quality point guards in the NBA now, its a buyers' market.
The one position the Jazz need most, SG, is completely absent from this years draft. I wouldn't be surprised if the Jazz offer the Thunder the pick for James Harden. He really is redundant with Durant being the primary scoring wing.

Why do you guys want a new PG? Harris had an excellent debut

Price will be gone, Watson has maybe 2 years left. The Jazz always carry 3 PG's. So bringing in Jimmer MIGHT make sense if no one else is impressive. Jimmer will never be a starter in the NBA, IMO, but he could be a terrific backup. So there is no conflict with having Harris start and having Jimmer come off the bench. This is a very weak draft, even worse than last season. I mean, if the choice is between another Hayward and a local guy who will fill the stands, Miller just may push for the guy who will make him the most money.

I wouldn't want OJ terrible attitude Mayo anyway. But for Milsap AND a pick? The OP needs to go see a shrink. Because his head is not on right.

Ok OK I should have done my research on Mayo. My point was that I would have loved to have seen O'Conner get us a good shooting guard NOW, so Bell would not be starting. Then the shooting guard would have had the rest of the season to get in sync with the rest of the new guys on the team.

Well, there was a rumor about Bell being traded and then the comment it might turn out to be a draft-day trade. I have a feeling O'Connor has a deal lined up, but the other team is waiting to see if the Jazz get a lottery pick this season or if they have to accept GS's conditional pick (KOC is NOT going to trade NJ's pick). That's what happened with Big Al. KOC started working on that deal at last year's all-star break. If Utah does miss the playoffs, it's likely they'd make their 2nd selection and then trade the rights to that player.
