Could The New Middle East Bad Guy Lead to Peace?

You are taking the statement way to seriously and literally

I don't think so. I am challenging a very common view that people apply to all kinds of things. The impulse to believe that things are as they always have been and as they will always be is pretty much universal. But it is a laughably small minded idea. I am, therefore, presenting a different narrative that I consider far superior. It is no more or less serious than the opposite. We're all just chatting here.

I definitely don't pretend to think I know what will happen in 10,000 years.

When I say there will never be peace in the middle east I'm saying that I will never see it. If it happens after I die then idgaf since I will be dead and it won't be possible for me to gaf

You think this is a common view?

I don't think that
I mean anyone who has gone to school, watched an old movie, read an old book, lived for a few years know things are always changing.

When I was growing up the weed didn't get you very high, I had no cell phone and instead had pager, couldn't fast forward threw commercials, and had no bangerter highway.

Of course stuff changes

When you actually think about it, you recognize that what I'm saying is true. It is quite obvious. But the human IMPULSE is to take current reality as the only reality. For example, Howard's comment about "peace never happening in the Middle East" is a very common sentiment. I, being middle eastern, hear it pretty much every day from my family and friends. Not long ago, the common view was that Europe is destined to always be at war. After all, they had "always" been. That being in the past, people have forgotten all about it, and now the ME is the spot for perpetual war. The evidence? Well, the have "always" fought! But that's a ridiculously simplistic way of looking at it. Up until the last century, everyone was always at war! It was the normal state of things. Peace was only a break to gather your strength and resources for the next war. Boys were raised to look forward to the time they got to fight and die in the glory of war. And yet, that is no longer so.

Sorry if this feels directed at you personally. It really isn't. But the subject was broached, and I felt compelled to give my two cents. :)

Sounds like your are saying things change.
I agree.
I don't thing there will ever be peace in the middle east while I'm alive to know it has happened
