Could The Utes Possibly Have A Basketball Program Again?

Show some class.

Give the utes credit.

Out of the big 3 teams they're the last ones standing. Krisco is doing a hell of a job and Washburn is a tremendous kid. Stuck it through the bad times. I want to see him succeed. We see enough garbage in sports today so it's finally nice to see when good old fashioned hard work and toughness pay off

One last thought...

Could you imagine how good the jazz would be if they played just half as hard as the utes?

Krisco is 100x better than king Krupa.

Did you guys see that Sloan was at their practice on Wednesday? Larry K. had some nice words to say about bringing him in to motivate the team (see below).

If you're a Jazz fan and appreciate how the Jazz used to play under Sloan, it would be tough not to cheer for the Utes and the style of basketball they are playing right now. They are composed, play hard on every play and are playing as a team. They never seem to be the most talented team on the floor but they are figuring out how to get it done. Reminds me of the 2003/2004 Jazz team.

“He’s one of those guys that meant a great deal to me,” said Krystkowiak, who added that the year he played for Sloan really validated what the game is all about — playing hard.

Krystkowiak praised Sloan for being a humble guy from a tough background, and for being the definition of hard work.

“It kind of fits the bill for what we’re talking about now, too, with our team. It really gets down to some basic stuff and getting down and playing hard,” Krystkowiak said. “It was a thrill for all of us to have him come watch practice and talk to our guys.”

Too bad to see them go out the way they did, but overall you still gotta like they way they ended the season. Duck makes some good points about Washburn and Dubois being the centerpieces of this run and the fact that they'll be gone next season. Loveridge seems like the real deal and I love the future potential for Brandon Taylor at PG. They really need Tucker to grow into a starting role next year as well.

Krysko certainly has to add more talent, but it seems like he has this team buying into his system- especially on defense. Utah really needs to keep charging forward if they want to be seen as a quality team in this state. I can't imagine Morrill and the Aggies will be down for very long and after a few "meh" years without Jimmer, BYU is bringing in a lot of talent via Lone Peak over the next couple of years.

I'll agree with Thriller. All rivalry hate aside, it's just more fun when this state is producing quality basketball teams. Here's hoping Weber State pulls it out tonight and gets to the big dance.

Give it up for the utes.

Even in that game against ore where they were clearly outgunned they played hard and made a nice run to keep it respectable. You could tell that both announcers were pulling for Utah. Oregon was clearly the best team and with the injury that ucla suffered will be my pick to win the PAC.

I think one must be excited about the direction the utes are headed. It appears like they finally got the right coach. Clearly they have some momentum. Now they REALLY need to get out and recruit. Like BYU they are going to greatly miss their long time big. Davies and Washburn were darn good players.

Let's see what happens over the next few years. The big 3 programs have a lot of work to do. BYU in particular. Carlino hurts as much as he helps (and he's definitely not a pg) and even though talent is comin via BYU alpine Im guessing no one will see it until after 2 years...

Anytime people are happy even when you lose that is ok. It means you are overachieving. Baby steps.
