We’ll just have to agree to disagree. I don’t think it’s even close to a comparison.An additional year of college, and all the year-round development that top prospects get these days, helps a player develop.
So Donovan has an unfair advantage over the one-and-done rookies.
A year of pro development for an NBA team is more valuable than a year of college development.
Or to put another way, I think that the development Tony Bradley got this year by having a full season of access to the Jazz/Stars coaching staff, practicing against professional players every day and having round the clock access to a professional strength and training staff was far more valuable to him than going back to UNC. Plus, the Jazz were able to teach him their system and control what role and minutes he was able to play. Something that no college team can replicate.
The argument that going back to school gives anyone an advantage over being in the NBA for a redshirt season is extremely flawed (and rather silly) IMO.
