Damian Lillard

Bench

Jonas Valanciunas

I decided to surround the Wasatch Front with guys who can shoot and space the floor. Jingles still provides a level of perimeter defense and passing, while Lillard, Jingles and Hood focus on playmaking and outside shooting. I'm counting on a jump from Favors, Jingles and Hood replacing Hayward's offensive production. My bench was built to support my starters and offer lineup flexibility. Several guys can play multiple roles and fit well together allowing me to focus on matchups and mismatches. I have guys who can shoot, defend, pass and run the floor in transition.

elan_prodigy's Case:

Ellis269 has a great team, a great Jazz team. I don't have the heart to dissect this match-up as I hope all of his starters (even Lillard) play up to their potential next year.

Never the less, I have an All-NBA team. A team that possesses 4x Franchise players who are all #1 scoring options on their respective teams, a team with elite defense and offense prowess, rim protection, play-makers all over the court and a bench consisting of NBA veterans mixed with the best young talent in the NBA.

You all know my guys and what they can do but here is a little hype up.

Starters:

John Wall (PG): Optimus Dime

"In transition, Wall is probably the best player in the NBA finding teammates running for dunks and early three-pointers and has played a tonne of solid defense as well."

Jrue Holiday (PG/SG): One of the best 2-way guards in the league who can defend 1-3 (even in the post). Holiday gets the start purely on his defensive prowess with his play-making and scoring just a bonus.

"terrific passing vision, hounding on-ball defense and the ability to create his own shots off the bounce."

Harrison Barnes (SF/PF): After a season figuring out how to be 'the man', Barnes has shown that he can be the #1 option on a team. Learning to navigate through double teams and opposition game planning against him, he's set for an even bigger year this year. Now put this 'new' Harrison Barnes back into a #3 option role... domination.

"Highly athletic and brings a nice two-way game: a hard-working and underrated defender, and a good shooter with great one-on-one moves"

Blake Griffin (PF): My darkhorse for MVP this coming season. Griffin will no longer have to sacrifice his role and is set for a career year.

"A uniquely phenomenal athlete, especially for his size: amazingly explosive and coordinated, and can run the floor like a guard. Has great low-post footwork, outmuscles most opponents, and regularly jumps over centers for monster dunks. Shows nice hands, great passing ability for a big man, and is clutch"

Myles Turner (C): Turner is one of the best big men in the league, A fierce defender, elite rim protector and a developing offensive arsenal, Turner is Lethal at the Center position.

"In his second season, Turner improved every part of his versatile skillset as a big man. He extended his jump shot to the three-point line, improved his scoring efficiency and defensive impact. Opponents shot just 49.3 percent at the rim with Turner defending the play, and Turner defended more plays at the basket than anyone not named Rudy Gobert"

Bench:

Donovan "Spider" Mitchell (PG/SG)
: Utah's young dynamo fits perfectly with my side and just needs to bring his defensive intensity to contribute.

Nick Young (SG):
Big shot maker, one of the best perimeter shooters in the league. His play-making and defense will surprise everyone next year, GS is going to bring out the best in Swaggy P.

Brandon Ingram (SG/SF): An excellent passer/play-maker, underrated defended and elite offensive skill-set.

Amir Johnson (PF/C):
Toughness, Bball IQ, rim protection, grit, heart. He does all the little things.

Thon Maker (C): Exceptional talent who is my pick to take out MIP honors. Defense, rim protection, rebounding and a legit stretch 5.
"You can quote me, right now, Thon Maker's gonna be the best 7-foot player in this league. He's going to. He's that good." - Jabari Parker

Rotations:

PG: Wall/Holiday
SG: Holiday/Young/Mitchell/Ingram
SF: Barnes/Ingram
PF: Griffin/Johnson/Barnes
C: Turner/Maker/Johnson

If Favors is back to himself and healthy this is an easy one for Ellis. If not this is a little closer.

Here is the video that was omitted from my write up. Anyone unfamiliar with Jrue Holidays defensive abilities just watch the first 30seconds.

You being serious?? If you wanna vote for a Jazz team thats fine but dont pretend to be impartial.

Wall > Lillard
Holiday can negate Hood
Barnes >>> Ingles
Griffen >> Favors
Turner has the defensive prowess of Gobert with a much greater offensive skill set.

My bench >>>> Ellis269

Uh... no. Maybe try less of these things >>>><<<<< and we can have an actual discussion.

Lol, you call yourself a Jazz fan and claim Turner has the same defensive prowess as Gobert? GTFO.

edit: Your bench is meh to garbage at best. It has potential but that doesnt mean that are helping you win jack **** right now.

You call yourself a basketball fan but want me to explain why/how;

Wall is better the Lillard
How Holiday can shut down Hood
Barnes is so much better than Ingles and
Griffin is better than Favors???

If you don't know you obviously don't watch much ball outside of Jazz games, its all pretty obvious.

You havent explained how yourself...

Wall cant shoot

Holiday is a decent PG but he isnt a SG

Ingles will daddy dick Barnes all night. You call yourself an Australian? Wow better head over to New Zealand with OL.

Griffin will get hurt again... Favors shows up injured worse than Blake and wins Game 7.

Still sticking to Turner is as good as Gobert on defense?

Still sticking to that bench being how many >>>> these things better even though none of them have done ****?

I shouldn't have to;

Wall is a better play-maker and defender than Lillard.
Holiday has played the 2 in NO and is one of the best defensive guards in the league
Ingles aint daddy dicking anyone other than JJ Reddick. He cant create his own shot and fact is he isn't on Barnes's level. Ingles is a role player, Harrison Barnes is a #1 option.
I love Favs but please. Griffin is a top 15 player.
Turner does have the "defensive prowess" of Gobert. That doesnt mean better or the same and in my opening writeup I acknowledged as much. He is much better offensively.

This was based on projections for the coming year, my bench was built that way. Top young talent mixed with veteran experience is how a bench should look on any team.

Wall still cant shoot. Just sag off him and he is much less of a big time player.

Holiday played the 2 sometimes but that team was awful when he did.

Barnes was the #1 option kind of... On a team that sucked.

Griffin is a solid player until playoffs come and he chokes or gets hurt.

Turner does have the "defensive prowess" of Gobert.
Um that does mean that he is on the same level as Gobert defensively and that is just dumb. Turner is not anywhere near Goberts level on defense. He dose not even understand Goberts level of defense.

Ingram, Mitchell and Old Man Thon might end up being good but not next year. They will still be young kids trying to figure it out. Plus Nick Young, what can you say about him?

You agree that Turner is much better offensively? I don't.

You wanna sag off Wall and have him running down hill at you??? Yeh righto.

Holiday is a beast defensively however you wanna slice it.

#1 option is just that no.matter the team. He has to overcome double teams and opposition game planning.

You cant really bring up injuries with Hood and Favors as opposing starters.

He isn't Gobert you are right but hes the next best thing in terms of rim protection and challenging shots.

You talk down about me talking up my benches potential when truthfully that is all Ellis269s line up is outside Lillard and Rudy.

You agree that Turner is much better offensively? I don't.

That one is closer and at least a conversation. Turner has more versatility on offense but what Gobert does he does much better. Gobert spaces the floor out so well by sucking so many people in on the pick and roll. Then you add in his offensive rebounding abilities and he is a lot to handle on offense.
