I was thinking that Maynor was the answer, but then I looked and saw that he was shooting 37% last year. That is only slightly down from his career. He's never really been a starter, so he is not facing lock down defense. I'm tired of PG's that can't shoot a lick. Just keep Tinsley in that case and roll the dice on Neto this year rather than turn to Maynor.

I agree. Will Calderon be happy when he's replaced as the starter in December/January? Is he ready to be an 18 min/per player after averaging 30 last season?

No idea. On account of Henderson being on the Bobcats, I have never seen him play before.

I think that would be okay, unless Burke ended up struggling. Then we'd be right back where we were last year.

Maynor's stats last year look like ****e, but I feel it's a combination of injury / bench relegation. He can do better.

Yes. You and I are thinking alike. Maynor knows the system. He can start for a couple of months until Burke is ready. Or if Trey really surprises, Maynor is just the backup from Day 1. Tinsley's role remains unchanged as the 3rd PG. And he'll be a terrific mentor for Trey (except for the shooting part). And if Maynor and Burke struggle? Who cares? That will just mean a few more losses and a better chance at a top-5 pick. I have no doubt Trey is going to be a very good PG, so I'm not concerned with rookie mistakes and a few extra losses (I actually want <30 wins).

I also think the Jazz will bring back Foye. It's a natural fit. Randy is a good ballhandler who would take pressure of Burke. Yes, I'm concerned about Alec Burks' playing time if that happens. But perhaps with Marvin's injury, Hayward will play all his minutes at SF and Alec will still be able to get 20-25/per at SG.
 
I just read a report that the Bobcats didn't extend the qualifying offer to BJ Mullens. Wouldn't he be an okay stretch 4 playing the backup role? I mean he's not good enough to cross tanking plans and not bad enough to make it seem like tanking for casual fans.

The Cats could just be waiting to see what kind of offers Mullens can get though...

There's something about Charlotte. Mullens had horrible numbers, as soon as he joined, they just about skyrocketed. Then with Augustin, he had great numbers, leaves, **** numbers.

Yeah but its the Bobcats. They don't do what (smart) people expect them to do.
If they in fact don't extend the qualifying offer he'd be unrestricted in 2 days. Just a thought. He'd stretch the floor a little. Give him 2 years 2nd a teamoption at 5mil / yr with 1mil guaranteed in the 2nd year and he may be interested. If somehow a PF falls in the Jazz's lap next draft cut him, else maybe he produces enough to justify a 2nd year and start competing for the playoffs in 14/15 with a brand new backcourt addition.

Yes of course if we can get him that cheaply, then of course I would be happy with that!! Perfect guy coming off the bench. Kanter & Favors inside, Mullens 3rd big, Gobert 4th big (ala Kanter last year).

Whoever we pick will have to play with Kanter & Favors, who are both bangers on the low block inside.


I do think we need a "stretch 4" who can step out and shoot it. We don't need guys who will clog up the paint.

Do we know for sure that Mullens can do this outside of Charlotte? It's awfully risky.
