Did he even play last year?
 
Don't understand if true. A tweener with no range (22% from 3-pt for his career). Over the hill at 33; he has no future with the team. Are we going back to the days of giving washed up vets PT over youngsters like Burks and Hood?

He won't make the roster
 
Last week Dennis O-Lindsey said that the jazz had to be creative inthe ways they create a competitive atmosphere for their open gym where there young players are practicing. Some of you may not know this, but Salt Lake is not a major destination for nba players inthe offseason. So the jazz sign a bunch of guys to non guaranteed contracts for a few grand. The guys show. up and as jazz employees they can participate in open gym practices and scrimmages.

If this is the plan and there is little guaranteed money given, I guess it is fine.

Have they always been doing this?
 
I think he is there to toughen up the Jazz's softer players in training camp and get them ready for the season.

Nope. Dennis said that it was new strategy they came up with to help their young players develop. He said that the spurs had something similar. The idea is that players can only get better playing against good completion, and fewer injuries will happen when players are there with the trainers on a good floor, in a good gym.

So the announcement is, "Jazz give Dauhnty Jones Some Money".

What smart fans should read is,"Jazz make an investment to make Alec, Gordon, and Rodney better."

I think they did the same thing with Brian Cook, Dominic McGuire and Mikey Harris but Mikey surprised everyone and made the roster for awhile.
 
Harris only made the team because of all the injuries the Jazz had at the time. If u remember Marv, Evans, and Beans were all out to start the year

Jones might suck, but he was aggressive and played defense. Will be a good guy to have in training camp because he will be physical with the young guys.
 
Maybe Jazz are putting together an all Dante team.
Never been done. Sounds exciting! ;)
