Dallas Mavericks @ Utah Jazz GAME THREAD (Airing on TNT, January 19th, 2012 - 8:30 pm Utah time)

I'm seriously starting to wonder if Kanter will ever be able to finish in the pros. He looks so pathetic trying to score from 2 feet.

He just has to learn to not take the ball down low, EVER. He has to start doing some kind of drills to get that programmed out of his head. It can be a hard thing for big men to do because for some it's a natural reaction when they get a rebound. If he keeps the ball chest level or above, and jumps right away (doesn't even matter how small a jump it is, its going to force contact) he will either be able to finish or get fouled at a much higher rate. Also, USE THE BACKBOARD ITS THERE FOR A REASON!

Bottom line is that the Mavs have big 3 men (Odom and Marion) who posted up Hayward and Miles and the Utah 3's got pushed around by the Mav's 3's. If Odom or Marion didn't score, they caused a double team which allowed Mavs to shoot a wide open jumper.
Hayward and Miles need lessons from Kanter on post D

Kanter has to learn how to finish around the rim. it's so frustrating to watch, especially after he works so hard for offensive boards or good position.

That is something that is easily coached up, so if he can't figure out going right back up to the rim, he won't be anything more than a space clogger/rebounder as he slowly loses offensive confidence for the rest of his career

His problem is that he gets the rebound and gathers himself down low. The D is to fast for that in the NBA. If he starts going right back up it will look a lot better.

Just cause I want to make sure, Bell's 7 points, 2 boards, and nothing else for 26 minutes was worth it for his defense, right?

NBA will always have a credibility problem as long as horrific calls by refs go unpunished. The entire officiating crew tonight should be suspended without pay for at least 3 games. That would help straighten out these non-traveling calls (like Marion does every time), the throwing out of Favors, and the biased Dirk making out shenanigans. Seriously, Dirk and that one ref need to get a room.

How he didn't end up with his 2nd T is beyond me. Oh yeah, it's the NBA and it's Dirk...

Yeah, that's what Miller said. Miller doesn't realize we've been watching this same thing since the start of the season. I realize the kid is 19. I love his rebounding. But I'm getting worried. The guy can't make a shot from 2 feet. I've never seen a young big with this problem.
