For Lillard?!The Celtics could offer a package built around Smart, Time Lord, and picks or around Jaylen Brown + picks although I doubt they'd offer that.

Don literally didn't take us anywhere. Lauri might. Remains to be seen. And that's why we will likely always be in the treadmill of mediocrity.
Markkenanen is a great guy and good player, but he isn't taking us anywhere. He's a 3rd option on a title team but we have to build around him like he's a #1 or #2.
We cleaned up on the Rudy deal and should have built around Don from there. We panicked and put all our chips into the draft basket.
It's quite likely that the Cleveland picks will never even be lower than #20, and just do some research on what picks #20+ end up being.
We don't know that, and we never will.If we had Donovan now the convo would be how he is leaving in two years
We never built anything around him. Just another assumption you're making....Don literally didn't take us anywhere. Lauri might. Remains to be seen.
Of course we know that. We know how this dance plays out. Don't act ignorant. We don't know that, and we never will.
Doesn't justify trading him so early anyway. There was no rush to trade him. Now everybody wants to beat their chests over getting Lauri and other assets from Cleveland which likely has kept us from the top of the lottery. Brilliant plan...

This is a thread speculating on a player we don't have. Talking about Dame is no different than talking about Donovan Mitchell.I remember someone once told everyone here we should focus on the players we have and not talk about ones we don’t. You also act like we wouldn’t be a play-in team if we kept Mitchell and traded Gobert. We’d be in a WAY worse spot.

You must like having late May and June Jazz free.Man I'm so glad Lopo isn't the GM

Dame is an old, often busted up version of Donovan Mitchell. Trading for him is a dumb idea. Keeping Donovan would have been smarter. We could have used draft assets to trade for Lauri if that was the end goal and we would have been better off.
If they come up short again this year I could definitely see them offering Smart, Rob Williams, and picks for Lillard. For Lillard?!
You're safely saying that "Don would have done this" and "Don would have done that". Don't be a hypocrite dude.I really wish people would stop saying this. It gets proven wrong literally every single year. Do you have any clue who will be on Cleveland’s roster in 2027-2029?
They'll take a step back when Donovan leaves them in free agency. You're safely saying that "Don would have done this" and "Don would have done that". Don't be a hypocrite dude.
Cleveland has one of the youngest rosters in the NBA, and there is no reason to believe that they should take a step back. They would have to take 3 or 4 steps back to make it a top 10 pick.
And you are assuming if we "built something around him" he would generate a championship. That is a way bigger assumption when we already saw him melt down in crunch time again and again. We never built anything around him. Just another assumption you're making....

I agree with you. Nobody knew that Lauri could play at this level. Why would Cleveland trade a starter for draft assets when they are trying to compete?
Also, nobody knew Lauri would be this good. Not DA or JZ either.
Eh, I doubt we ever get past the 2nd round with both. Would just end up rebuilding againGive me both
They missed the playoffs and Lauri wasn't a great fit with Allen/Mobley. Could've went Bogey + something for him.Why would Cleveland trade a starter for draft assets when they are trying to compete?

Who said championship? And you are assuming if we "built something around him" he would generate a championship. That is a way bigger assumption when we already saw him melt down in crunch time again and again.
