What's new

Dame Time

Maybe I didn't see it, but I certainly don't remember it, and I was one of the biggest Gobert fans here.

Just wondering who in this thread HH is referring to as the "same dunces" that criticized the Gobert trade.
There were several magic beans posters… I might be confusing two convos… and maybe you were the one pumping the Conley trade as trading for a second round pick… it’s fairly useless to argue with folks on potential trade return if they are that disingenuous in their post trade analysis. There were several claiming we had traded Rudy for some late first round picks and getting high on our own supply OKC style.

So... who in this thread are the "same dunces" that were bashing the Gobert trade?

I was referring to you but said I may have confused two conversations… trust me there were people… so you may not have been one of those dunces… but they were out there. Go dig it out if you want to take a trip down memory lane.

You were the dunce calling the Conley trade bad cuz we traded for a second… I’m fairly sure which is why I’m going to just wait for the actual trade and for everyone to tell me how OKC would have offered twice what Miami did but Dame screwed Portland with his list.

Buddy, you're the one who made the claim that the same people in this thread arguing with you now are the ones who hated the Gobert trade. Burden of proof is on you.

lol

If you're going to go the whole ad-hominem route, at least get your facts straight.

LOL! This has been entertaining. HH Makes a ridiculous claim (everyone was impressed with the return we got on the Gobert trade). Clearly, he’s either making **** up or misremembering. But he can’t quite admit it because admitting mistakes is somehow sacrilegious on the internet or something.

Nice job calling him out.

might???

Oh yes, now it’s @MT Steve’s fault cuz he might’ve pumped the Conley trade or something something.

Lol dude, it costs nothing to just admit that you were wrong. We all get it wrong. I’ve done it before and have owned up to them. It’s compounded when you refuse to admit the mistakes and let your pride/emotion get in the way of owning them.

You don’t always have to make everything into an argument. Literally no one was unhappy with the Gobert return. Some were sad to see him go. But no one was unhappy with the return. We all knew we stole from Minny.

Okay cool… I’ll go check it out when I have time to kill. Apologies in advance if you loved the Rudy trade but I assure you I ain’t making **** up that people were not with it at the time. But again if you are going to argue the Conley trade netted us a second then the same return is likely going to be deemed inadequate.

Portland hurt themselves as much or more than Dames limited list. They will end up doing fine… just like every other small market that was delivered a limited list of suitable teams.

I have no idea what the Conley trade has to do with a bunch of us all saying the problem here is Dame limiting his acceptable options to one team that has a relatively empty coffer of assets with which to use in a trade for a star.

“For teams calling about trading for Damian Lillard, the message from the Portland Trail Blazers has been unambiguous: Bring your best offer and make your team our preferred trade destination. General manager Joe Cronin doesn't plan to operate a transfer portal to the Miami Heat and dutifully deliver history's greatest Blazer to his targeted team.

Ownership plans to honor Lillard's request for a trade, but Blazers officials are telling teams they'll move Lillard for only the deepest return of assets available. Portland is pursuing the sliding scale superstar package of desirable draft picks and high-level young players. For the summer, Cronin's betting the market over Miami.”

Exactly what I would do…
From that same article:

“Small-market teams, like Utah, can't acquire the likes of Lillard in free agency, but armed with draft picks and developing young players, they can become dangerous lurkers in the trade process. The Jazz made a call to check on Lillard, sources said, but that isn't a significant development. An offer would be a development. First, the Jazz must consider if Lillard's timeline at nearly 33 years old makes sense for their young team --- and could they acquire him at a reasonable cost to stay flexible for the next young star who becomes available in trades?

Lillard probably doesn't fit for the Jazz, but he will somewhere, sometime.”

That last part is just not true.

Yes.. I MIGHT be confusing convos... gotta go verify. Ironic this comes from you when several years ago you were patting DL on the back for drafting Udoka and on draft night I buried you... several months later you were out here mocking DL for his stupidity that you loved on draft night... at every turn you couldn't believe how someone could be that blind... when you in fact were that blind. Sometimes people forget stupid **** they say... you are exhibit A. I went ahead and let Steve know hey I might be in the wrong and apologies in advance... I'm going to go ahead and verify at some point if I remember and still care.

There were several posters saying we should have gave it another go... several said we got magic beans... nothing here has 100% approval or disapproval.
