NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

They were the only place that offered 33 % off coupons on a near weekly basis. And often times, once a month, they'd give out a 40-50 % off coupon which would clearly make it cheaper than anything off Amazon.

Now they're going out of business. Probably because all you youngins are obsessed with the newest fad of reading books with those kindle/pad pieces of crap.

I'm old school. A book isnt a book unless it's made out of paper, a spine, and can be bent and ruined in my luggage (my poor sherlock holmes took a lot of damage on my last trip. Forgot it was in there... Idiot).

So if you're looking for some cheap books or movies, Borders is probably the best place to go right now.

Guess now I'll have to shop on Amazon.com or the evil empire (Barnes and Noble... Expensive...)

I've been to Borders once....many many years ago. I grabbed a magazine 'cause I saw that there were Jazz players on it, paid $10 for the damn thing and found out it was one of those gambling spreadsheet things...so I tried to return it and the manager gave me hell. Haven't been back since.

These liquidations are interesting to watch because they are microcosms of the larger scale liquidation that is happening to countries right now. It's the same process. Greece is the best example, but the vultures will come swooning for US assets soon enough. Everything is on the table in liquidation. You can go buy Border's furniture. You can buy their window decorations. Hell, their employees are probably even for sale.

Isn't prostitution illegal? guess desperate times call for desperate measures

Get a Kindle.

Kindle>Nook

Long live amazon.com!

Since having reconstructive knee surgery, I've found myself riding my bike to Borders at the river bottoms. I didn't know they were going out of business. Maybe I shouldn't have taken back the last book I bought there. :D

Nook>Kindle

See how easy that is?

(I have both)

oh what the heck, just get a smart phone. they're gonna replace everything in two years.

and if you've already got a smart phone, well, maybe get another!

Smart Phone > Nook > Kindle

:-)

This is so true. I heard in Japan they have smartphones that can teleport you to work and have built-in microwave ovens. One has a beer tap. Some of them make phone calls. It is amazing.

ugh

What a waste of time.

Went down there, no place to sit or look stuff up. No workers there either and a huge line. Not very many good discounts either. 10-20 percent on most books.. Not much at all.

Perhaps they'll increase the discounts in a few days?

Wasn't that kind of the sentiment at the Circuit City liquidation a couple of years ago? I think I remember people actually saying that they were using pricing tricks to make people think items were on sale, but they were actually more expensive than they would've been normally at least during the first days/weeks.

This is clearly being used here

Borders nearly 2-3 times during the week would send a 33 % off coupon. Today, they don't have those. Yet they're "giving" you 10-20 % off most their crap. Yet, you'd save much more had they just put out a coupon...

I looked at buying "At Dawn We Slept." The story about Pearl Harbor...

It was 22 bucks there. Probably about 20 with tax and after the deduction.

Online? The exact same book? Can be bought on Amazon, Brand Spanking New, for $6. $9 including shipping.

Is Borders the man version of Lane Bryant?

NM I guess it's a book store.
