Dante Exum Averages .2 Steals Per Game

He has good one-on-one IQ, good moves, footwork, and drive and dish game, but does not understand the game beyond this. He is worthless when the ball is not in his hands and is worthless when the guy he is defending is not involved in the play. He cannot see things a step ahead, see plays develop, make reads and react accordingly. He has good scoring instincts but no scoring skills. He has a good feel in the post for a guard imo, but he’s relatively weak as hell, can’t shoot, and would never get much space to operate there on this team anyhow.
Rubio understands the game much better, is better, and plays more as a result.
Pretty much everyone in Snyder’s offense is useless without the ball in their hands. The “go stand in the corner and don’t move offense”.

Here is fundamentally poor defensive awareness by Exum. Things like that would drive any coach mental, no wonder he gets yanked after couple mistakes like that

Watching this I thought it must have been gameplan, slacking off a specific person and daring him to shoot. It's Collison, a career 40% three point shooter. He lead the league last year at almost 50%. Was Collison playing with injury or something? Because otherwise not forcing him off the line like that was completely stupid.

agreed. Cool Now show the multitude of boneheaded defensive plays Ricky makes every night.

I don't think that's true. It's what some fans think, but I think Utah's expectations for him are probably pretty measured.

How is it untrue? Their expectations and measurements are business decisions. They aren't measuring and making decisions all solely for purely basketball reasons. Quite the opposite. The sales model is directed to a Utah fanbase with Mormon-specific mentallity and how it is our team, a part of what being a Utahan is. It's us, it is we. We are all here in life in this together, and lookie we have an NBA franchise with John and Karl and Jerry. Look at us, look at what we have.

It's just like any other city people grow up in and are proud of. We are here and we are cool and check out our trophy the Utah Jazz.

Utah Jazz are a business. Ownership is in the business of catering to their customers the best way they think, not in the business of making purely basketball decisions and bucking the trend that San Antonio did and got extremely lucky drafting as well. That style must be a business decision that is seen as too short term risky for the long term reward that SA got.

It’s not about comparing Exum with Rubio, one has nothing to do with the other. If Exum improves enough to knock Rubio out of the starting lineup I’d be more than pleased, especially if it helps the Jazz win games. Let’s avoid fanboyisms.

The Jazz would have signed Jimmer then.

I’m thankful that we have an NBA team in Utah. We have the chance to watch the best basketball players in the world.

Some fans are really so uptight about things. Go Jazz!

Okay @fishonjazz

Utah will finally truly try to be a winning franchise when enough of their customers take this mentality and they can operate at a profit catering to that customer base. Memphis took that gamble, how did that turn out?

Sorry Jazzta, i'm just stressed brother. I actually love Ricky, i'm just bummed he isn't playing like he was last year

Actually he's more like Leandro Barbosa than Shaun Livingston. I don't want to say that's his ceiling since he could be better than Barbosa, especially defensively, but who knows if he'll ever be consistent enough to reach that ceiling.

Right now, he's in the same ballpark as Michael Carter-Williams.

uh no .. nobody's as bad as MCW
