Dante Exum Averages .2 Steals Per Game

Exum is 6'6 with a 6'9 winsgpan and elite speed. How on Earth is he only getting .2 steals per game? Per 48 minutes it goes up to a whopping .5 steals per game.

I'm not saying you have to get a ton of steals to be a good defender, but Exum is providing 0 defensive playmaking right now.

because bball is about more then size and wingspan. It takes bball iq and that's gone thing everyone questioned about Exum when he was drafted. So I was told Quinn and staff is the best player development staff in league. They are just like other teams. Some success stories and some failures. Imagine had the Jazz picked right when they took Exum and Kanter. Both were praised as Jazz type players when drafted. I heard people comparing Exum to kobe. Come on people don't deny it. Multiple posters here was calling him that.

He's more of a position defender... this is notable though. He should be able to dig in on guys driving and do more there in help situations.

He doesn't really take any risks on the basketball court... so this is not too surprising... also he gets a terrible whistle so I'm sure he plays scared a lot.

He might have slow hands too... he's not an expert ball handler.

Dante is a puzzle that is likely never fully solved.

he is a guy who should of played college ball but he got a team to bite and pick him. Other then Simmons I don't know if I could take an Aussie who hasn't played in America with a top 5 pick.all that said he is still 23. He should be a rookie this year has he played college ball. Jazz either need to invest in him for future and send him to g league for awhile or they need to trade him before he has zero value. At best you might be able to get a late first for him. Dream on about getting a top 20 pick for hi m. Ship him to Philly for Fultz. They are ready to move on from him and Ben and him are buddies right?

Sorry Jazzta, i'm just stressed brother. I actually love Ricky, i'm just bummed he isn't playing like he was last year

I agree, he really isn’t. He shows bursts when he scores 3 baskets in a row but not nearly as consistent as he was by the end of last season. What’s getting into our players I have no clue... complacency and taking things for granted I guess.

****ing spare me. Exum blows. He could start with Jordan, Lebron, Duncan and Shaq and he’d still ****ing blow.

There are two types of people in this world:

GROUP A - Watch Exum blow by anyone (and everyone) to the rim, only to see him miss wide open layup/dunks - and conclude he is a bust.

GROUP B - Watch the same thing and believe he has accomplished 85% of the job and believe surely he can do the last bit in time...

GROUP A - Watch Exum on defense and think .... **** 0.2 steals per game lol
Group B - Watch Exum on defense and think ... **** how does he stay infront of his man all the time!

everyone sees all that. Being faster than everyone didn’t require 85% of the work, it requires being blessed with great athleticism and staying in shape. He’s had a lot of time to figure out how to do other things on the court. No one disagrees that he is a great one-on-one defender and excellent staying in front of his man, but he has no idea how to play a passing lanes or think a step ahead on defense or offense. He should watch some film and learn how to make winning plays before worrying about how to become the next all-star, and, in turn, might discover that they are not so mutually exclusive.
Everyone hopes he can lock in and focus on his strengths and ways he can help the team cuz everyone also agrees he has great potential.
