This is why Lauri is not a superstar, and feel uncomfortable calling him even just an allstar. He rarely shot the ball in the second half, and a good number of his shots in the fourth were desperate shots. He doesn’t demand the ball and sometimes gives it up too early. I think this can and will be fixed, but he must demand the ball and have that dawg in him.

Things will change and that is fixable problem.
But don't forget Lauri is just coming to his prime he'll get better but it will take time the learning moneys needs to pay.
Lets see how good Lauri is next season keep in mind that he's first ever playing leading scorer's role so even Lauri needs some time to adjust his new game.

I was afraid Lauri's finishing touch inside will decline when he spends too much time shooting threes. that has been happening past weeks now... As much i love him shooting 50% downtown we need to see hm to get some looks inside and into foul line. We also need others to pick up their 3pt shooting if wanting to win. With this defense its vital. But I guess its ok to lose. The one drawback is missing Lauri from ASG if getting into bad losing streaks.

So, you think he played like an allstar in the second half? How often would you say he’s looked like an allstar in the second half? How often has he been on pace to score 40 in a game by half time only to see him sit in the corner the entire half as he’s disappeared.

This isn’t me slandering Markkanen, this is the farthest from the truth this is me playing quality control. He wants to be an allstar, then he needs to learn to play like one.

He is clearly playing like an all star. He is not a superstar though and I don't think anyone is expecting him to become one.

Half of it. But he has missing more the easier looks around the rim again now. When he was more inside to out with his game to start the season he was automatic. Now it has been flipped a bit. If he finds the perfect balance in the future it will raise his ceiling from borderline All-Star to a lock on it. Of course we need him take those ten threes a game too - as far he is making them with this rate.

EDIT: If that Collins trade went thorugh or if someone like that will -. that means we might at times cut some of Lauri's minutes in the first three quarters and have him being more fresh on 4th. Also his fitness seems better than last season so barring injuries it should be even better on 2023-24.

They had a guy starting against us that’s on a 2 way contract. A 2 way ****ing contract. A team that didn’t play 3 of their top players. Lost to the terrible spurs before this game. I think the hot start pushed my expectations a lot. We are a bunch of cast offs. We can’t win a playoff series against anyone.

I dont know where this "sit in the corner" notion comes from. He drove to the paint for that turnaround fadeaway, had that one play with a spin move on the perimeter and drove in for a layup where I thought he was fouled by Draymond. Also took two threes from above the break... He did have a corner 3 miss as well but that was him rotating to the open area when Vando came out of the corner.

He missed his shots in the 4th. He was hot before he went to ride the pine in the 3rd, but lost his touch. I thought few of his shots were the types he automatically makes. It wasnt his legs.. he was moving smoothly, hustling back to defense etc.

Yeah I'm having tanking thoughts as well after these two losses... and I have probably been the most anti-tank guy in this board maybe (Elizah Huge as well). I dont know why we suck against inferior teams and play well against good teams. We just blew out two better teams in our home court, and then we lose with a healthy team to the Spurs who play youth minutes and GSW who play scrubs.

Here is a fun fact. Kelly Olynyk shoots better on the road than in Vivint for whatever arbitary reason. JC is very consistent. Lauri is outlandish at home and while his shooting% drops to mortal levels on the road its still pretty good and his point production is equal. For whatever reason he has 10 double doubles on the road and only 3 at home.

However, there are two guys who produce significantly less. Our 3PT specialist Beasley shoots below league average on the road and barely eclipses his FGA number with his point total... and Conley... well lets just sayt he shouldnt shoot much on the road based on those numbers. Thats 7.1 points less production from two of our starters in just 2 minutes less on-court time between them.

Shooting differences home vs. away with certain ballers might be about how much of their shot is relied on hand-eye coordination vs. the feeling of the shot. If Beasley or Conley is having same trend through his career - which idk - then for sure it might have some reason.

Hardy seems to ride Sexton more than any other player on the team.

Ya both him and NAW barely played last night. Maybe if they play more then we win. Conley playing 32 minutes in a road loss when he shoots 2-11 is not good. If we gonna lose anyway then lets develop some guys to get some wins down the road.
