I think it's more or less the fact that Gay is just temporary and with Sexton they are trying to actually instill values and habits. Gay is going to get his 15 minutes (unless maybe he starts chucking, but currently he's not even shooting all that much) until someone else steps up and makes Hardy give them more minutes.
It was partly in defense of Sexton but also partly in defense of the mid-range. It isn't a bad shot there... and Collin is good in the 10-16 range... any clean look at the end of the quarter is fine there. It was just a weird time to get upset.

This and then proceed to bench him the rest of the game which hurt the team.

Why do we continue letting Rudy Gay jack up threes without any repercussions? He’s literally made 9 out of his last 54 attempts.
We.... WE!!!!! I am not letting him shoot any lol.

IDK - I don't think he should be playing. I imagine he either starts making shots or is mothballed after the trade deadline. Not that I think his trade value will increase or something. Just think if you do it now then you have zero shot to trade him??? I don't know... maybe Hardy loves On/Off splits or Rudy and Will got wild on the road and he knows Gay will spill the beans to Will's wife. It is unexplainable okay.

WE are all in this together whether you like it or not.

I dont think any of this does have to do with the trade deadline. Gay is just a big body that the Jazz generally need out there and he's a placeholder for a coach who doesnt want to be overly charitable with minutes to young players.

Watching Sexton play basketball in general is infuriating, so I get it. I think he might be a bit too old to be as moldable as Hardy probably hopes though, so maybe he should just let him do him more than he does.

And I watched the shot Sexton got benched for. It was a terrible shot. Sexton is a good mid-range shooter because he generally takes good mid-range shots. That was not a good mid-range shot.

Sexton is so talented as a shot creator with his speed going downhill the BS he did on the shot was really unacceptable.

It was ONE ****ing shot. This is ****ing ludicrous.

It's not just a shot, it's a decision, and not even a quick decision (where you can generally give more leeway for errors), one where the player held the ball and actively chose to go for a negative play. One decision can be completely game changing, like when THT took that erroneous 3 in the Denver game, which was essentially the final dagger in the coffin of his regular minutes.

I’d say Clarkson’s decision to jump in the air without having a clear plan of where the ball was going and proceeding to throw it to the Warriors who then made an easy layup was worse.

I just want consistency with it.
