By tough I didn't mean thuggish. Tough can mean fighting through adversity, being a locker room leader, pulling your teammates to the finish line, when all they want to do is lay down and quit. Like you said, 'play smart and play hard' .. I mean guys that do that all the time, regardless of the circumstances .. intestinal fortitude.

I think they both tried. The problem is not that they didn't try. The problem is who they are as players and people. Big Al is a nice guy who is a ball dominating, low post big man that is slow and a horrible defender. Devin Harris is a fast guy who is a scoring point guard and not much of a leader. Not bashing them as they would fit on some other teams. However they do not fit on what the Jazz are trying to do.

So in short, yes they need to go so that Utah can bring in pieces that fit the puzzle.
