Defense wins Championships

We have what every team in the league would love to have. Our front court is insane. I can't believe it. It's like a dream come true. Probably gonna go down as my favorite Jazz team ever. I really believe this team will have a great chance to win championships, and it's because we can defend.

If you notice, we can have all sorts of troubles on offense and still be in games. Defense demoralize teams. It frustrates them. It's gets in their heads. You can count on it more often than you can offense. Offense comes and goes. The great teams can play elite defense. Most importantly, that's the key ingredient to winning on the road.

I think they are ready make the playoffs and win next year. It's time to start spending assets if we have to. I don't think we wait anymore. It's not skipping steps either. It's about taking advantage of an open window opportunity right now. Who cares that they are young. There is no rule against winning if you are young. If you can win, then you can win.

Screw those steps, we are taking the elevator now.

This is an amazing stat from today...

Could Rudy become our GOAT at the Center position????

Only 3 times has a @utahjazz player had more rebs than @rudygobert15 (twice by Mark Eaton and Big Al did it in a 3OT game). #UTAatMEM

I think also when they're frustrated offensively, they may take plays off defensively - meaning it could become easier for us to score. Then there's the easy fast break points you get from defense also.

wow, that's a lot of cliches for one post.

Don't end up like the New Orleans Pelicans, please. The timeline has been accelerated, but we aren't near a "championship window" yet.

The Pelicans were dumb in how they constructed that team. They should have tanked a couple more years to add assets. They definitely jumped the gun, and it was for dumb players too.

We should be glad though. Now they will struggle to pair up someone with Davis.

They got Nerlens Noel one year IIRC, but traded him for Jrue Holiday and a draft pick.

Noel & Davis would have been an exciting pair to watch.

I think the Jazz are in line to take the Mavs/Spurs spot in the West. Both those teams seem to be on the (relative) decline.

Wesley Matthews, LaMarcus Aldridge and Robin Ropez are all hitting the FA this Summer, am I right? If one or two of those don't come back who's to say they won't also drop out of the playoffs next year as well?

They're a team that's missing something to push them over the hump.

Aldridge and Lillard are coming back. The West is so loaded anyone can drop out if they aren't on their game or suffer a major injury, so who knows. Mavs and Spurs seem the most likely to naturally decline though.

I don't think we should rush this thing. Quin Snyder and Dennis Lindsey are creating this team with a Crock-Pot, not a microwave. Our greatest growth will still be the development of our own players (Snyder is doing a fantastic job with this BTW).

Favors starting to get a lot more steals with Gobert playing more too since he doesn't have to worry about rim protection 110% of the time he is on the floor. Using that 7'4 wingspan to play passing lanes more often.

Jazz should keep adding defensive minded players in the draft and hope that they take a step up offensively in the NBA under Snyder like Kawhi Leonard and Jimmy Butler have under Pops and Thibs. Don't sacrifice this defense for scoring ever again. Warming up to the idea of Johnson or WCS a little more every day (especially as the Jazz keep winning and creeping up towards 12/13.)
