Demagoguery At Its Finest

This just annoys me. I hate how everything like this gets attrubuted to racism. Does racism exist? Absolutely, in small communities, groups, and individuals. But did racism prevent aid reaching the victims of hurricane Katrina? Absolutely not! Because the government and the majority of American citizens are not racist. I get so sick of that being the fall back when minorities feel like they were/are treated unfairly. In fact, what I have seen in my life is that white American citizens are subject to stricter rules or requirements to qualify for things like WIC and food stamps because if you deny a minority citizen you are considered a racist. I'm not trying to say "poor me." I'm just trying to point out that we have made a lot of strides towards good since the 1960s. We are entering a time where the up and coming generation (me) have never experienced or even seen acts of true racism. I've only ever read about it and seen it in movies. The people of New Orleans were warned to leave before Katrina hit. Those who didn't or couldn't had a fair warning and with the flooding and the roads being shut down (because it was a terrible disaster) help and aid was not readily available. They got the aid there as fast as possible. Here in the west, many organizations were collecting money to send for relief efforts.

Mr. Obama is definitely a Demagogue. Makes me loose what little respect I still had for him...

Thanks for sharring Scat

My wife didn't store test the coffee for freshness again, so I know what I'm going to be doing today.

I took that in my senior year. Dropped it 3 weeks in. Decided I didn't need that crap.

While I think everyone benefits from a good math education, I have no problem acknowledging that for many people, that road does not include calculus.

Math was never my thing. The subjects I excelled at were history related.

I can appreciate that. Even so, it's good to know how mortgage payments work, why statistics are often nonesense, the signs of graph manipulation to misrepresent reality, etc.

I agree but I do not need to sit in Calculus class in high school to figure all that out. If I have a problem I have family that is getting their doctorattes in education. They know that. So if I cannot get it I will talk it over with them. I know what I am getting into before I get into anything.

There are better math classes than Calculus for those subjects, absolutely.

I am not disregardign math. I just personally decided I did not need to take calculus. One of my daughters is getting into science so I would be more inclined to have her increase her math skills as a result. Math would be of much bigger use to her ina science field than it would me.
