Dennis Lindsey: We will be VERY active in free agency

Please don't let being "very active in free agency" = signing Solomon Hill. Though that would be pretty funny in its own depressing way.

Starting to think Burks and Favors need to fire their agents. Lol. Two best bargain deals in the NBA, or maybe they hate money.

Or, they like where they are at and took less to stay here than they could have gotten elsewhere.

I have my doubts. Lindsey is more open than KOC was but this is unusually open even for his admin. Smokescreen perhaps?

Locke's daily podcast:

- the new salary cap has changed the way GMs do trades. That matching salaries and what not is no longer a primary concern. As a result the trade market is much more open.

- That the Jazz were the first team to strike on this new field with the trade for George Hill, Lindsey is ahead of the game in this respect

- He down plays free agency a little due to the spiking $ people will get

- Solomon Hill: some poor shooting, tough, multi positional, great dude/leader, young, hope his shooting develops some, even PAC player, rumored market salary is 10-12 million

- Loul Deng: Jazz inquired about him in the past, multi dimensional, stretch 4, vet, positive PAC player, shooting suffered some last year, toughness, rumors market price is 12-14 million

- Jared Dudley: multi dimensional, shooter, leader, strange (red flag) on the number of teams he has been on, not a lot of playoff experience, rumored market is 9-10 million

- Jon Leuer: has bounced around a lot, some awful play and some good play, questions on how good he is, shooting 5, coached by Alex Jensen in the D League, rumored market is 9-10 million

- Why not gamble on Rudy Gay if that's the Jazz market? 8-9 mill a year

- Play trades v free agency this year

- Bradley Beal: will get the max, Jazz should look at him, young, only 2 guards that are younger shot better (effective FG%)

- Wade: really fascinating for Jazz

Favors, yes. Burks, no. Dude hasn't played a game since his freshman year in college. Burks is vastly overpaid.

Hmmm, didnt think about Leuer. I thought Phoenix would match, but they just got two lottery pick bigs, so they might not care to match on anything over a modest threshold.

Teletovic and Leuer are both unrestricted free agents. Teletovic got off to a slow start. He came back from blood clots, but he was an offensive monster towards the end of the season.

I like teletovic. I think he is an elite shooter. (Probably cause I remember him dropping hella threes on the jazz one game)

Let me introduce James Johnson. Please note who is defending him on the first highlight.

I've been thinking a lot about what is the best approach for the Jazz this offseason. If I were DL, I go after the biggest bang for my buck. The four guys that I chase are Durant, DeRozan, Gasol and Batum. Mid level guys are getting way overpaid this offseason. If you strike out on those 4, take the best value guys you can with a 1 year deal or 2nd year team option. I don't tie up my cap space next year for depth unless I get a difference maker out of it. Someone will slip through the cracks and be a bargain like Aminu, Carroll, Bazemore, Lin, Casspi and Biyambo all were. Let the market settle and then see what is the best value left. . . then start focusing on the 2017 crop and hope like hell that the Jazz get into the playoffs and somebody takes a Draymond Green-like jump into top 20 NBA territory.
