What's new

Very disappointing. While I love this core I was REALLY excited about adding Tomic and a lotto pick. Now we might get neither?

This team is very promising, but standing pat is a bad move. I think we are a little too settled with Jingles and Millsap. Decent players but can be upgraded.
Lets not get too comfortable with this squad. They havent even made the playoffs yet.

Im bummed about Tomic too. Not to sound too Polly Annish, but this could end up being a good thing. I think this will force our hand into drafting a big. We will draft a stretch 4 which helps resolve our big man problems (depth / shooting). Besides, going young isnt such a bad thing.

But yeah, losing Tomic sucked. I kind of hope we just go bpa and let it ride. I think were all excited as a fanbase but were still a middle of the road playoff team in the west. I hope we dont jump the gun and do something unwise. Keep building this baby slowly. Spurs have been able to do it late into theor players 30s and if we keep going steady, i can at least dream of doing the same.

I think standing pat is a great move. Of the last 30 top 5 defensive teams, 29 made the playoffs. If you believe we are a top 5 defensive team, then we are most likely a playoff team.

Think of the experience this team could get with a playoff beat down. It would be great for Exum, Gobert, Hood, etc to carry a team to the playoffs. I'm all for no moves. I'm not against moves either, but I don't think doing nothing is a bad move.

It's a real balance because there's definitely such a thing as going too slowly. If that happened we would start bleeding talent. But I'm sold on this coaching staff's development skills so I think we will make great strides even with the current roster.

I think DL addressed that in his comments right after the season when he talked about accelerating the process but then tempered those remarks by saying they'd also look at team chemistry.

And to address Rev for being too settled on Jingles and Millsap...I'm not. I'm settled on Hayward at 34 mins, Burks at 32 and Hood at 30. Maybe a bit less especially if the Jazz are ahead, with Jingles and Millsap getting primarily garbage minutes.

We need to trade up for Stanley Johnson. Would add the 4th wing that we currently need and provide some hood injury insurance. He will also play some stretch 4 and has upside.

Personally I would move up for hezonja by using Burke and a future pick to sactown.

Then when Portland loses LMA offer another protected pick to Portland for batum.

Move Burks to back up exum. (Would rather him taking the shots Burke was)

Let hood run the second team of Burks, hezonja, hood, booker and pleiss.

Batum being g 6-10 can be a stretch 4 at times freeing up minutes for Burks, hood and hezonja.

Exum(25), Burks(23), cotton
Hayward(32), hood(25), Millsap
Batum(27), hezonja(18), ingles
Favors(32), booker(10)
Gobert(30), pleiss(18), fa center

You think standing pat (developing what we have) is about ****ing Jingles and Millsap? With a healthy team (which is how the organization has to look at this) there aren't enough minutes to give each of Hayward, Hood, and Burks 30+ mpg. At least not with a backup PG.

I love this fanbase's fascination with crappy players. Ingles might be on the team next year. Millsap might as well. BUT, if they get minutes, then something bad has happened. Same with Evans. You never want to see Evans play significant minutes.

You do if it means we are blowing people out.
