Sorry but the product the players have put out there for the last 10+ years has "been less savory" than anything the owners have done over the last 10+ weeks.
I agree. It would be interesting to see how many people now castigating Fisher for leaving were in favor of his staying back when we were looking at thr4ee more seasons for $7 million per?
There is no disagreement that the Jazz as an organization benefited greatly from Fisher leaving. The question is the motives and methods through which Fisher left. I personally think he used his daughter to get out when he didn't have to. I think that sucks. He's also one of the worst floppers the league has ever seen. He also tempered the Lakers situation and I feel was largely responsible for them making such a jump from the year before (it seems no one acknowledges that the Lakers were looking really good even before they got Gasol and that with the same roster they weren't nearly as good the season before).
I'm glad he's gone, but I still think Fisher is perhaps one of the most snakely to ever be in the NBA. He's the worst kind of winner; the kind that will do anything to achieve it, and so in some respect should be championed. I believe he never wanted to be here, and he did whatever he had to to make that easiest. He won.
Of course he didn't have to. His stated reason was to be closer to the best care possible, but no law required that he do so, and no one put a gun to his head. It happened that one of the very top centers in the country was in Los Angeles.
Was he aware that there was such a center in LA? Probably.
Would he have moved to LA if the center did not exist? Probably not.
Dide he hope to resign with the Lakers even before he was released? I would expect so. He probably wanted to since before he played with us.
Did he make a single false statement regarding his motives? Not that I have seen.
Floppers are like rectums. Every team hasw them, and other people's always smell bad.
So, he wasn't worth the money, but he turned the Lakers around?
He got paid about half of what he would've on the Jazz, having owners that can throw money around like candy, and a situation where he was needed far more than the Jazz needed him (they had the biggest prima donna in the game, too many distractions, and no PG). I never said he was totally useless.
Guys, check out how ****ing humble I am.

FWIW, I was just re-watching the 4th-qtr of Game 4 of the 2007 WCF against San Antonio (don't ask why) but in retrospect - it was interesting to see a game/series where the refs don't give Fisher the respect he has on the Lakers, and it was very telling how Fisher handled that situation. We all know the Jazz were screwed by the refs, and Fisher was called for some tough calls guarding Ginobili - but looking at it now you can clearly see the low level of class Fisher displays when things don't go his way. On Fisher's first techncial he clearly sought out Ginobili on Manu's way down the court, purposely ran into him, and then tried to make it look incidental. On his 2nd technical, after knocking Manu down he stands above him and stares him down for an obvious taunting technical.
Now at the time Jazz fans (myself included) were so angry at the refs that we fully supported Fisher's actions (he received a standing ovation when he was ejected) and it's not like anything he did was overly malicious - but IMO it's just another case that this whole - "he's a great guy and person" nonsense that espn has since spewn is full of crap. He's nothing more than a fierce competitor who will do anything it takes to win - sportsmanship and honesty be dammed.

And that had to be a MAJOR reason he wanted out of SLC; he wasn't getting the same calls as he used to get with the Lakers... Had to be frustrating.

The MAJOR reason is that he didn't want to be in SLC to begin with (because it was SLC). He's always been a bit of a ****.
