You thought Irving was going to be a bust and you want us to believe you when you're telling us Marshall is going to be good?

Naw I'm just messin with ya.
I judged him unfairly because I hardly saw him play and wasn't sure about a freshy coming out after 11 games. Then there's the history of Duke pg's in the pros. I felt like the deck was stacked against him. I'm happy I was wrong the NBA needs guys like him to offset idiots like John Wall and Marshon Brooks.

I hate to derail this thread...but what are you talking about with the history of Duke pg's in the pro's? Bobby Hurley and Jay Williams both had career ending injuries but would have been stars. Am I forgetting somebody else?

Not sure Hurley would have been a star necessarily. There was also Johnny Dawkins who got injured pretty early in his career.

Irving is a pg, so that is what I was thinking at the time, ment to say Duke guards in general. These are all duke guards drafted in the first round that didn't pan out.

Trajan Langdon. drafted 11th overall to Cleveland, lasted 3 seasons.

William Avery. Drafted 14th to Minnesota played three seasons

Dahntay Jones drafted by Boston, 20th overall. I think he is still playing, but is a scrub.

JJ Redick. Drafted 11th overall to Orlando (nothing more then a roll player)

Gerald Henderson 12th overall to Charlotte (the book is still out on him) He is showing signs of developing though. We will se.

Tell me if I'm missing someone, but the only Duke guard I can think of having any success in the NBA is Cory Maggette.

As I was saying Duke Gaurds have a history of not translating to the NBA.

I wouldn't even consider Maggette a guard, he is a pretty pure SF.

Here's my awards.

MVP: Kyrie Irving....will he pull a John Wall next year?

Most "I'm glad he's not on the Jazz" Player: Marshon Brooks and Norris Cole (Tie)

Most "I'm wish he was on the Jazz" Player: Ricky Rubio and Paul George (Tie)

Most Boring Player Award: Greg Monroe. He's 6'11 and he's laying the ball in? Oh, and then, a steal when Wall was about to make up for Budinger tommorow?

Most Athletically Gifted Player Who Didn't Use His Tools: Derrick Favors (He could've had sooo many oops, but maybe that was a 'John Wall' is a crappy PG type of thing)

Most Dumbest GM: Shaq: 5 PGs? Is it just me, or is he just not fully there all the time?

Finally,
Biggest snub: Alec Burks...yeah Pekovic is having a better year, but Burks would've been fun to watch at this type of thing whereas Pekovic would've pulled a Greg Monroe.

Greg Monroe boring? Nah, he was the most fun player to watch the whole night the way him and Cousins where going at it. The steal at the end sealed it. Monroe was the most entertaining player of the night for me.

After seeing this Greg Monroe became my hero:

Though this play was awesome too:

You could say that for a lot of teams, but if you watched Irving play last year, you knew that he was a special talent. Every single one of the guys you listed above had major question marks, Irving didn't.

Oh and nice work on back tracking out of your original statement.

Kanter deserved to be there more than Burks.

And how can you say Monroe was boring? His steal was the funniest part of the night (and likely the entire All-Star weekend).

I wonder if this was trending on twitter last night?

Another funny thing is Kyrie Irving is so shocked he attempts to play defense for the first time all night. #gregmonroe4life

A lot of Dukies had a reputation for being premier college players and then then disappointing in the NBA, with poster-child examples being Christian Laetner and Danny Ferry way back when. Then when Grant Hill got injured, people were calling it a curse.

Irving looks for-real though. He just needs some players to play with.
