Noted that this was Dwights rookie season, and this is Favors 2nd season, but I think he gets a pass on last year as he was traded in his rookie year and didn't really get to progress as much. that and he was with the nets of course. I'm not saying he is Dwight Howard, but he has that sort of potential with his athleticism, and his exceptional defense. I think if he works on his conditioning (getting a little bulkier ala malone/howard/etc..) He can be a super star in this league. This may have been stated in another thread, but I searched an couldn't find it. Every time I watch him play D he reminds me of dwight. Just my thoughts. Here are the stats. A little surprised that the blocks, and steals were in derricks favor over dwight.

I think Favors can be special if he gets the playing time. One area in which Dwight is superior to Favors is rebounding. However, Favors has turned it on lately and realized how dominant he can be on the glass. In the last five games his rebounds/48 = 20.5. Also, remember that Dwight played 2673 minutes in his rookie year and 3017 minutes in his second year. Favors played 1536 his rookie year, and will play 1365 this year barring injuries. That's about 2900 minutes and comparable to Dwight's rookie year. Bottom line is that Favors needs more minutes and he will probably not equal in three years Dwight's minutes after two years.
His improved FT shooting is what I've been maybe the most impressed with Favors. It's not spectacular, but I don't absolutely cringe when I see him go to the line like I used to. He's worked very hard at it, and if he can get to a 75% level he can probably average another 5 or so points a game just from the line.
I agree on this. His 9/9 game with that clutch free-throw was so encouraging. We're going to need Favors and Kanter to boost their FT% in the future.

I'm pretty confident that Kanter will average 70%+ from the line throughout his career.
I think Favors could get up to 70%, but even if he stays around 65%, that's still way better than Dwight and Griffin.

Because you expect him to shoot 40 free throws per game?
He is so streaky. I remember a stretch of like 5 games or so when he was shoot 80-ish% from the foul line (with substantial attempts) early in the season. Then he goes back to shooting low 60's, then he has a game of 9/9 (including a big pressure FT). His stroke is definitely good enough to be 75% shooter, just needs more consistency.

Only, he's shooting 62% at present. Increasing his percentage to 75% would only add .13 points per free throw attempt. The 5 points you're talking about are almost entirely from getting to the line more frequently, not from improving his free throw percentage.
