What's new

Devin Harris To Portland This Summer?

In all seriousness though, I think Batum would be a great pick up. He is still pretty young and a good shooter/defender.

Miller and Batum for Harris according to trade machine improves Jazz to +15 wins while Portland goes to -13 wins.

I really like Harris but would do this trade in a heart beat. Miller is a great FT shooter, defender, great passer, great low post player and can rebound very well too for a guard. Then add Batum who is a good shooter, athletic and good defender. If a trade similar to this happened, and if KOC is confident Knight will fall to 6, why not trade down and get even more assets?

They just got Wallace though. Wouldn't that make Batum more expendable?

**** me, I forgot about him. I think Wes or Batum would have to be one of the odd men out then. They wouldn't trade Roy or Wallace.

I would do it for Miller only because if his option is picked up, it's the last year of his contract. That said, I'd want more than just cap relief. Miller and Batum for Harris would be a coup on our part. Or Miller and Wes for Harris and Bell would be great too.

Knight can sit under Miller and then take over at some point. Watson would be our 3rd pg.
Wes/Batum-Hayward along with (crossing fingers) Singleton at #12 would be strong, smart, defensive-minded young wings who can spread the floor, though Batum needs to improve some there.

Plus we'd be rid of Miller and Miles and Okur's contract at season's end. That's over 20M off the books.

There could be some truth to this. The day the D-Will trade went down I remember hearing some reports that Devin Harris may have been headed to Portland via Utah but it didn't work out.

It would be a huge Coup for the Utah Jazz to get Wes Matthews back. KEK just mentioned how nice it would be to reacquire Matthews as well as picking Knight and Singleton. The thought of that exact scenario taking place makes me pee a little.

Every trade deadline the biggest rumors floated around always involve Portland. I swear Portland leaks rumors before they have even finished the discussion with the opposing GM. Was Portland interested in Harris, I would guess yes. Did the Jazz ever even consider moving him to Portland? Who knows.

I think they'd for sure trade Roy if they could. There was an article this week saying Portland might try to get him to retire.

If I remember correctly, lots of teams have inquired about Batum, but Portland was never interested in moving him. And I don't see that changing just for Devin Harris.
However, bringing back Wes or Batum for Harris while drafting Knight would be an improvement in my opinion.

I'd be giddy with any deal that included any combo of Miller/Batum/Matthews.

While the idea of getting Wes back is nice, Batum may be a better option. Our frontcourt would be freakishly long with him at the SF, not to mention he'd be more legit at the SF than Sap. However, a Batum deal probably signals the end of Sap's starting career in Utah and we've all wondered how that will sit with him. If he could embrace the role of 6th man, Utah's frontcourt rotation would be absolutely badass.

Andre Miller coming back to Utah as his career winds down while he mentors Brandon Night makes so much sense it scary.

I agree with everything except Earl the Pearl being the 3rd string guard. He could possibly start for some teams and is definitely at the worst a great back up. No way he accepts a 3rd string role

This. He's too good to let drop to a 3rd option. If we draft a PG, we need to let that PG be Earl's backup until he can take over. Maybe get a combo guard for our 3rd option.

Porty wants to make wholesale changes this summer. They have been after a dynamic pg for sometime. I think they would offer batum and miller for harris and a few second rounders. They need to balance that team out. I see zero chance of them trading matthews back to us though considering roys condition. Ive been saying take knight and trade harris all along. We are ok up front. All we need there is a defensive back up center that can come in and clean up if al is slacking. Kanter is not that guy.
