Diamond in the Rough: 2014 Draft

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

My picks would be:

- Kyle Anderson (great 3pt shooter, playmaker, feel for the game)
Not a good fit. His skills would be too redundant to Hayward and Burke. We need a guy who can score 16-20 ppg.
- Aaron Harrison (clutch genes)
If he does it again tonight I'm down, otherwise would pass and take my chance he's there with the GS pick.
- Nickkkk Stauskus (knock-down shooter)
A reach but he brings two things the Jazz need. Shooting and some swag.
- Willie Cauley-Stein (true 7 footer, athletic pivot/shot-blocker)
Just not a good enough center specimen to pick with Favors and Gobert on board.

Thoughts????

Vonleh is probably the safest choice at 8. You get a physical specimen similar to Favors that is a little more PF oriented with a possible 3 point shot. Stauskas would be next on the list.

Yeah pretty good analysis overall.

If in the next 2-3 years the following happens:

Vonleh = Taj Gibson

Stauskus = Klay Thompson

Who would you take? I think that's pretty even, but I would go with the Klay Thompson comparison. Better fit for our team, great shooter is very important now in the NBA. His stroke seems legit and he's been consistent now with the 3pter 2 years in a row (unlike Hayward with his sophomore year at Butler where his shooting dipped).

Isn't Saric suppose to be good? Though I don't really like his attitude.

I never understood what was so great about him. He supposedly has good awareness/ passing skills, yet has always had a negative assist/turnover ratio.
