A lot of people out there that have started to get after [Exum]because he didn’t play much at the World Cup need to pull their heads out, the kid is 19,
What’s pertinent to assess his present and future is the realization that he is a long, long way from his ceiling as a basketball player. That would be easier, of course, if Exum flashed the all-around dynamism that had at least one draft scout compare him to Kobe Bryant. And if the teenager’s performance in the Jazz’s rout of the Los Angeles Lakers last night is any indication, Exum will do just that at the very least.
From the article:
I don't see the Kobe comparison at all. I think a couple of people here at jazzfanz have mentioned Penny Hardaway. That seems like a much better comparison to me. From what I've seen Exum's got a fantastic first step, looks really smooth at times driving with the ball, and possibly will have elite court vision as well. (We'll see.) That sounds much more like a Penny player than a Kobe player.
Yep. Simply doesn't have Kobe's explosion off the floor nor his scorers mentality. If Exum pans out, a longer Tony Parker or Jason Kidd type is who I see.
