Disregard Mirotic, Aquire Favors!

Don't really see him knife fighting with Steven Adams for a rebound though. I'm starting to think it will be easier to add some range to Favor's game than teaching someone like Niko to do all the other things that Favors does.

absolutely agree, would love to keep him, and if he keeps improving his corner 3's that's more than enough combined with his beasting under the rim.
Niko has been much improved for the pels the last month or so but i don't see how you could teach him to provide anywhere near the presence that Favs does

Favors shot 25% from 3 in March and April on about 1.5 3’s per game. I realize it’s a small sample size but it’s not completely tiny. Almost 1/4th of the season.

Anyway, that’s something to work with. We’ve heard all year since the fall that he can hit it and he just needs some to fall. Well, maybe they’re starting to. And a successful playoff game is the perfect spot to give him even more confidence.

I want him back. He’s a cool dude who plays huge in big moments and there’s legit room for him to hit 30% next year on more attempts and 35% the year after.

I don't like when people look at Rudy and Derrick and say "Well, they're both inside presences who don't space the floor so it becomes a problem for the Jazz." The logic here is that the Jazz ought to adjust to what other teams are doing. Nuts to that. Why not make other teams adjust to us? Look at our Twin Towers as our strength and their problem. Make them adjust. Rudy and Derrick are both elite rebounders who play very good defense. They can also finish around the rim and have good chemistry together. Make that the other teams' problem. If the Thunder want to be cute and want their 4 to stretch the floor, let them. I sure want to see more of the putrefying corpse of Carmelo Anthony on Derrick Favors. Let them see if a couple of threes a game that Melo might hit because Favors is slower to close out is worth 15 offensive rebounds and the "make-it-look-like-you're-playing-defense" defense provided by Anthony. Let's find out how long they can afford to keep Adams off the floor. Let's see how often Westbrook drives to the hoop as he's so accustomed to. Let's see how long they dare play a tweener at 4 instead of matching the Jazz with 2 tough, big pivots.

Uh huh, sure, the problem is Favors averages 2.6 offensive rebounds, not 15.

It's what the Jazz had last night. Favors, of course, pulled down 8, but he also provides teammates with opportunities to snag offensive rebounds. I can think of at least one situation last night when he tapped a rebound back to someone on the perimeter. The rebound is credited to Joe or Ricky or whoever caught the ball, but without Favors to tap it, it doesn't happen.
