DLeague Draft Saturday

BJ Young!!!

I remember he had a really good Freshman year at Arkansas and at one point was mocked to go 8th overall during his Freshman year by DX. Why the **** didn't he come out then?
Got bad advice, he shot 40% from 3 and that got exposed..

Looks like he shot 7/45 from 3 last year for Batumi-RSU in the Super Liga in 650 minutes last year.. not an encouraging sign.. He's still got a great first step i'm sure. .He drew 7.4 fouls per game but only made 57% of his FTs..

I've got it

1 Rysheed Jordan
2 Jimmer
3 Perry Jones

28 year old Jeff Ayres -- formerly known as Jeff Pendergraph is the Number 1 pick. Harden's old teammate at ASU and former Trailblazer, Pacer and Spur.

@WojYahooNBA
The Idaho Stampede (Jazz) will select Jeff Ayres with the No. 1 pick in the D-League Draft, league source tells Yahoo Sports.

So what position does Ayres play etc?

He's a 4/5, and he's pretty explosive and decent on the boards. Can shoot ft's - he's certainly just a bench player. He's no Robert Covington (last years #1 pick)

Important to note that Rysheed Jordan can’t be called up to an NBA team this year if he plays well. Eligible for the 2016 Draft.

Wait, wut?

So this guy can be drafted in the regular 2016 NBA Draft?

Yes. Same thing happened with Aquille Carr. He played for Sixers D League team in 13-14 and entered 2014 draft (undrafted tho).

Jeff Ayres... What a bummer. Even Jimmer would be a logical, fair choice.

We don't need a Jeff Ayres type player.
You might say the same thing about Perry Jones but he still had some skill and potential.

Believe it or not, Jeff Ayers is older than everyone on the Jazz roster. About 3½ months older than Elijah

I don't know if i should care about it that much but selecting Jeff Ayres 1st ovr is a shocker.
Sooooo pointless.

I suggested the Jazz look at Ayres in the dumpster diving thread pretty much because he's tall and can shoot 3s lol. Spurs fans hated this guy. They called him Jeff Errors.

Well they could've done worse. for sure. Renardo Sidney still undrafted halfway thru rd 3

Some other notable picks so far

1st rd

#7 Sam Thompson
#11 Askia Booker
#16 Jean Victor Nguidjol

2nd rd

#5 Myck Kabongo
#6 Bobby Ray Parks Jr.
#7 Michael Stockton
#11 Ronnie Brewer

They might have just drafted him to be a good player on the team. If you want to develop other prospects on a D-League team, they need to have competent teammates. I'm not aware of the roster makeup, but if the team needed a good big, Ayres should be one of the better D-League big men, which would help us develop guards. It's not like every D-League move is based on eventually bringing them over, some could simply be just "we need players who can play on this team".

Being "mocked" to go 8th by Draft Express is absolutely meaningless. Draft Express is just some short stumpy, nerdy white guy who never played basketball before.

Homey Is there any update on Jeff Ayers? If Pleiss isn't ready to contribute in a game like last night with Rudy out, I couldn't help but think Ayers could've been of some use. Booker and Lyles FG%'s are dismal thus far and Ayers is a career 55% shooter.
